| DESIGN NAME: The non seam form 1.0 - body as joint PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clothing INSPIRATION: This is my vision of the future fashion, not using technology from the 18th century (SEWING MACHINE) no seam "LOOK" UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: no seam, no sewing machine The human body is the "seam" that connect the fabric to body. Only laser cut no human hand involved. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It will change the way WE look and use fashion. Create another way for using fabric on the human body. New way of "wearing" cloth. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in jerusalem in nov 2010 and finished in august 2011 exhibited in the bezalel fashion academy as my final year project. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Technique: processing in solidworks, laser cutting. Material: neoprene 2mm black grey SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: NEOPRENE sheet aprox 40cm* 80cm * 2mm TAGS: Fashion forward. No seam. Body as joint RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The human body as joint. The human form as an object that gives shape to matter. The will to transform a deeper experience than the conventional visual of clothing used as an aesthetic and functional to cover the human body. The way to connect the different part of clothes (stitches, buttons, zippers etc) was an easy and efficient technological solution since the 18th century till this day. Tools and technology set the tone and mind of the designer, the appearance of the material and the final design. The constant use of the sewing machine limits the fashion field. A frozen picture of our fashion reality has been formed. Paradigms changes in the fashion field are only within the same field and do not exceed that field. Only a radical change will break beyond these frontiers. Tools and technology are constantly renewing. The current connections (sewing machine) will be technologic nostalgia which will exist in a parallel yet less common plateau. Maybe for designated use only.
