| DESIGN NAME: ORISHIKI Hand bag PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clutch bag INSPIRATION: “Orishiki” is a hybrid word composed of “Ori ”, taken f rom Origami, Japanese paper-folding art, and “Shiki ” taken f rom Furoshiki, Japanese traditional wrapping cloth which is large enough to wrap and transport goods and gifts, as well as wearing them as scarves. “ORISHIKI” is a new carrying device consisting of a single piece of two dimensional structure, constructed of triangular segments which can be folded like origami, and can wrap things like furoshiki. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Origami-like folds, a single structure consisting of triangular segments, but wraps things like apple sauce. There are new geometric folding surface became a solid calling case. The Clutch bag’s behaviour is completely differ from other any case and opening and closing movements is quite innovative way to use. That is made up of several triangle segments and those each segment edge is define each next segments direction and position. Magnets organise the unimpeded closing behavior. From the functions, the looks like a crystal that reflect all surrounding lights gracefully. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The geometric bag is not only idiosyncratic in its appearance but also in its highly speacialized production process. The unique process can be applied to just about any productions without losing its unique product identity. The hand bag is a just one of example, there is more application of possibility for other carrying case and packages. You just need put stuff into the bag and fold the bag, the gab start to close automatically. That is like a magic. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2009 at RCA London. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To use Additive Manufacturing process and hand assembling. Inward frame> Polyamide （SLS：Selective Laser Sintering） Hinge > Polypropylene unwoven fabric Surface > Acrylic resin SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: DIMENSIONS (mm) 302 x 115 x 79 (Close) 350 x 390 x 13.5 (flat open) Package is 20mm flat board like box because the product is becoming flat. The production use Additive Manufacturing process. TAGS: Origami hand bag Clutch folding wrapping RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I tested may material and way to use the detail of the product and prototyping over and over again. At last I could find and realize strong WOW factor on the product. CHALLENGE: Budget is biggest wall because I developed alone.
