DESIGN NAME: Get Your Feet Off My Coffee Table!
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coffee Table
INSPIRATION: preventing people from using furniture in a manner that it was not designed for.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The vertical ribs of the table create two table tops: the surface between the ribs which supports smaller everyday objects, and another 'plane' that supports items such as laptops and books. This play of figure and ground preserves the appearance of the table as a uniform object while visually obscuring clutter.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The GET YOUR FEET OFF MY COFFEE TABLE! Is a table that has a lower and upper table top. The lower surface conceals everyday objects like keys, cups, remote controls and cell phones, shielding necessary clutter from guests, and preserving the pristine image of the table as an object. The vertical ribs form an upper surface for larger objects such as books and laptops. The dimensions of the vertical ribs have been designed to make the table uncomfortable for guests to rest their feet on this designer table so that you never have to tell them to “get your feet off my coffee table!”

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product is designed to make efficient use of CNC router technology designed specifically for manufacturing Corian counter tops. The table is manufactured out of two modular components which permits the variation of table length without altering the assembly process. The simple form of the table combined with the CNC fabrication equipment has yielded a prototype with extreme precision and crisp details.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length: 48" Width: 26" Height: 18"
Corian allows the table to be stain/vandal resistant, deep abrasions and scars can easily be repaired.
