| DESIGN NAME: Sooze PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hairbrush INSPIRATION: Many people use water or hair treatment sprays to style their hair, yet traditional combs often become difficult to clean, leading to frequent disposal and replacement. Traditional combs are hard to clean and often discarded, but this design features retractable bristles and an integrated spray for hair nourishment, extending its lifespan. Compact and travel-friendly, it offers effortless grooming at home or on the go, making it a versatile and sustainable solution for daily haircare needs. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This innovative comb features retractable bristles for effortless cleaning and durability, preventing breakage during storage. Its integrated fine mist sprayer, combined with anti-static bristles, tames frizz and enhances hair nourishment by accelerating product absorption. A sleek, ergonomic design conceals functional elements, with a magnetic decorative cover allowing personalization while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. This multifunctional design enhances convenience, efficiency, and style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Patented retractable bristles technology to remove hair from the brush easily. It’s simple to clean and storage. Easy Portability Take it with you anywhere with different stress relief way – brushing hair, massaging scalp, hair care in the same time. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was launched in Taiwan in 2019 and was showcased at the 2022 Paris International Invention Exhibition, where it won a gold medal. It was also exhibited at the 2022 Taiwan Innotech Expo. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In the production design of the comb, ultrasonic technology is used for precise adjustments to ensure smooth integration of the exterior components. The material selection prioritizes comfort and a soothing massage effect, avoiding excessively hard materials while ensuring the comb remains easy to fold. Additionally, anti-static properties are essential. After multiple trials and experiments, the ideal material for the comb teeth was carefully determined. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Small: Length101mm x Width60mm x Height 30mm TAGS: Hairbrush, Comb, Retractable, Haircare, Bristles RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We conducted research on existing functional and portable combs through both online and physical sources to identify products that align with our target criteria. The marketing team first analyzed market sales and distribution models, while the engineering team assessed production processes and costs. After integrating findings, we conducted market research to evaluate consumer expectations before proceeding with prototyping, testing, and iterative refinements through continuous discussions and adjustments. CHALLENGE: This design balances ergonomic sizing, seamless aesthetics, and market adoption. Considering mold costs and hand size differences across regions, a middle-ground dimension was chosen for optimal comfort. Achieving a nearly invisible parting line required higher production precision, increasing complexity. Additionally, introducing an innovative product demands market education, posing cost and adoption challenges. Strategic refinements ensure both functionality and consumer appeal.
