| DESIGN NAME: Tondo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sofa INSPIRATION: The Tondo sofa was inspired by the basic geometric shapes present in the universe, with a focus on the sphere, an element that represents perfection, infinity and eternity. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Tondo Sofa is designed to break the conventions of traditional design, uniting form and function in a sculptural piece, meeting a growing demand for furniture that causes significant aesthetic impact. This approach values design as a form of artistic expression, making the Tondo a timeless piece that adapts to different styles of decoration. The Tondo presents rounded spheres and shapes in contexts until now little explored in furniture design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Tondo Sofa operates intuitively: its organic design invites to use, allowing the user to naturally settle in different positions. Its rounded shape wraps around the body, promoting relaxation. The absence of seams and flexible lining provide ergonomic adaptation. Its performance comes from the fusion of aesthetics and comfort, offering optimal support and a unique visual impact, making it a functional and sculptural piece at the same time. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in July two thousand twenty four in Florianópolis and ended in September two thousand twenty four. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Reforestation wood and fabric with elastane SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Round Sofa has the following dimensions: 3,600 mm wide, 2,000 mm deep and 870 mm high. It was developed with a focus on sustainability, using reforestation wood, natural and renewable latex, and fabric coating with recycled elastane. TAGS: Sofa, sphere, Tondo, seat, ergonomics, fluidity RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design research of the Tondo Sofa was exploratory, based on the observation of nature and the influence of the Renaissance rood. The goal was to create a piece of furniture that combines art and functionality in an innovative way. The methodology combined ergonomic studies, materials testing and digital modeling. Data were collected by prototyping and comfort analysis with users. The result was a fluid and timeless design, impacting the market with its unique and versatile aesthetics. CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to transform the artistic concept of the round into a functional sofa, balancing form and ergonomics. Obstacles included adapting the spheres as backrest without compromising comfort and industrial production without losing the fluidity of design. Historical and social research allowed for aesthetics, and sustainable materials, manufacturing technology and structural viability were challenges overcome to ensure innovation and product quality. NAME: Anna Maya Arquitetura PROFILE: With a unique and inspiring approach, the work of architect and designer Anna Maya is characterized by circular shapes that evoke the concept of infinity. His creations are more than simple aesthetic elements; they represent movement, continuity and harmony that transcend time and space, conveying the idea of a grand and eternal cycle. The originality and timelessness of Anna Maya’s drawings is a fundamental aspect of her creative approach. By breaking with the traditional and avoiding passing trends, Anna makes her design pieces relevant and appreciated over time. Born in the capital of São Paulo, Anna Maya graduated from Santa Úrsula University and has a specialization in Art History from the National Museum of Fine Arts of Rio de Janeiro. In 1996 he established a residence in Florianópolis, leading the firm Anna Maya Arquitetura and dedicating himself to the design of exclusive and luxurious environments. As an architect, her portfolio includes 22 decoration shows, with 14 participations in the CASACOR exhibition, more than 100 projects published in magazines, including Casa Vogue and Book Decornautas, as well as several awards. Anna’s inspirations and references derive from studies and trips to the most varied destinations, always focused on the exploration of the universe of art and architecture. During the pandemic, Anna started designing pieces of design furniture, opting for production only in 2023. Demonstrating a personal style that transcends the ephemerality of design trends, the pieces created by Anna are emblematic and impactful, based on balls and circles that symbolize the infinite, "The Eternal". With a unique and inspiring approach, the pieces signed by Anna Maya stand out for elegance, fluidity, eccentricity and despojamento. Presenting simple and pure lines, essential for a quality design, giving timelessness and turning the pieces into objects of desire. |
