| DESIGN NAME: C3 Sterilization PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sink INSPIRATION: It was found that the bacteria levels of cutting boards in 70% of households exceed safe limits. This sink integrates medical grade sterilization technology and a miniaturized drying unit. Moreover, it draws on vertical storage design from Japanese kitchens to optimize spatial utilization, while also supporting auto start or stop and incorporating a magnetic knife rack. This product enables professional sterilization in home settings, creating a healthy, efficient, and tidy kitchen ecosystem. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The C3 sterilization sink, centering around the concept of an integrated healthy kitchen, innovatively incorporates cutting board care features, with the whole care process completed in 15 minutes. UV radiation and hot air circulation for cutting board sterilization, coupled with an integrated compartment and an innovative nano hydrophobic coating, enable the product to address single functionality of traditional sinks, bacterial growth of cutting boards, and poor space utilization of kitchens. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: UV radiation and hot air circulation automatically start once the cutting board is placed into the compartment, with the whole care process completed in 15 minutes without any manual operation. A smart sensor light strip indicates the working status, and the UV unit is linked with the door switch to ensure safety during sterilization. A vertical storage design, paired with a magnetic knife rack, allows users to smoothly access and store knives, significantly enhancing efficiency. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Guangdong in April, 2023 and finished in August, 2024. The product was launched in China in September, 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The inner walls of the sink and the compartment are made of a GB 4806.9 material, and employ a nano hydrophobic coating with a contact angle of 110 degrees, achieving scratch resistant and self cleaning properties. The drainage pipe coated with an antibacterial silver ion layer kills 99.9 percent of bacteria. The fully sealed circuit system boasts an IPX7 waterproof rating, complemented by a UV lamp monitor that automatically alerts users after 6,000 hours of use, ensuring safety and durability. However, traditional independent sinks and sterilizers fail to meet the requirements of modern kitchens in efficiency, health, and tidiness. The C3 sterilization sink actively responds to upgraded health awareness and more compact living spaces in modern society through technological integration and spatial optimization. CHALLENGE: The challenge was how to satisfy the demand of users for a hygienic, efficient kitchen. To address that, the C3 sterilization sink is equipped with dual sterilization units, including UV radiation and hot air circulation, allowing for efficient sterilization with low energy consumption. An integrated compartment supports cutting board care and knife storage to effectively simplify operation for users.
