| DESIGN NAME: Lighting Panels PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wooden Interior Decoration INSPIRATION: The Lighting Panel was inspired by the natural beauty of wood and the atmospheric potential of integrated lighting. Our goal was to redefine traditional wooden wall panels by merging warm, tactile surfaces with dynamic illumination. Extensive research into materials and LED technology allowed us to create a seamless, elegant solution that enhances interiors with both functional and ambient lighting, offering architects and designers a new dimension of creative expression. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Lighting Panel is a groundbreaking fusion of wood and light, redefining the concept of wooden wall panels. Unlike traditional designs, it integrates subtle yet striking illumination, creating a dynamic visual effect that enhances any space. Crafted from premium wood, it combines natural texture with adjustable LED lighting, offering both ambiance and functionality. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Lighting Panel is effortlessly integrated into any interior, combining natural wood with customizable illumination. Installed like a standard wooden panel, it requires no special skills—just plug and play. The built-in LED lighting can be adjusted via remote control, allowing users to modify brightness and color temperature to match their mood. The flexible design lets the panels be arranged freely, creating unique compositions that enhance ambiance and elevate interior aesthetics. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in 2022 in Schodnia, Opole, and was completed in 2024. It was developed with a focus on combining high-quality wooden panels with integrated lighting solutions. The design process involved extensive research and craftsmanship to ensure seamless integration of LED technology with natural wood. The Lighting Panel has since been showcased in various industry events, gaining recognition for its innovative approach to modern interior design. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Lighting Panel is crafted using a combination of advanced CNC milling and traditional woodworking techniques, ensuring precision and high-quality craftsmanship. Each panel is meticulously finished by hand, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. The integrated LED lighting is carefully installed to provide subtle yet striking illumination, enhancing the panel’s design. This fusion of technology and craftsmanship creates a unique, functional, and visually stunning architectural element. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: Standard panel size: 250 mm (9.85″) x 250 mm (9.85″), thickness: 30 mm (1.18″). Materials: Premium natural wood – available in walnut, oak and ash. Lighting Integration: Seamlessly combined with various panel shapes for unique compositions. LED Technology: Modern COB LED strips ensure a uniform, continuous light line. Installation: Simple plug & play system, requiring no special tools or skills. Design Flexibility: Lighting elements can be freely arranged, adapting to the panel layout. Control: Remote-controlled adjustment of brightness and color temperature. The objective was to seamlessly integrate LED lighting into wooden panels while maintaining aesthetic and functional integrity. Using qualitative research and prototyping, we tested various wood species, LED technologies, and installation methods. Data was collected through user feedback, material performance tests, and lighting simulations. Participants included architects, interior designers, and end-users, who provided insights on lighting ambiance, usability, and design flexibility. Results confirmed the need for customizable, easy-to-install lighting solutions that enhance wood’s natural beauty. The research reshaped product development, influencing design choices such as COB LED strips for uniform illumination and a modular system for flexible compositions. In real-life applications, the Lighting Panel elevates interior aesthetics, offers energy-efficient lighting, and provides architects with a new creative tool, blending nature and technology effortlessly. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was designing panels that seamlessly connect in countless compositions, allowing each project to be unique while using the same product range. This was solved by implementing a 25 cm side length and uniform connection points. Additionally, developing a flexible LED system that enables any number of lights to be placed anywhere on the wall, in any shape, required precise engineering to maintain both functionality and aesthetic harmony.
