PRIMARY FUNCTION: Transformative Jewelry Set
INSPIRATION: The past consists of memories, while the future is shaped by decisions. This transformative necklace is designed to preserve memories, as life follows a cyclical pattern, much like a Ferris wheel—full of ups and downs, where ease follows difficulty. This piece serves as a representation of life’s journey and the emotions tied to significant moments. The design is inspired by a small Ferris wheel that rotates with movement, symbolizing the constant change and flow of life. Just as a Ferris wheel offers different perspectives as it turns, this necklace allows the wearer to embrace their past experiences while moving forward. Through its dynamic form and mechanical transformation, this piece not only serves as an ornament but also as a reminder of the ever-changing nature of time and memories.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This necklace is not just a simple ornament; each cabin can be detached to be worn as a separate earring. The design evokes nostalgia, bringing back childhood memories. The movement of the Ferris wheel is therapeutic, helping individuals with focus issues and reducing stress and anxiety. By gently spinning the piece, it provides a calming effect. Combining tradition, innovation, and mechanical science, this design turns jewelry into an interactive, emotional experience.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This piece is a spinning pendant that can be rotated by hand, allowing the cabins to spin around a central axis. This feature enables users to easily transform the pendant into earrings whenever desired. By rotating the gears on the body, the screws holding the cabins can be loosened, allowing the wire the cabins are suspended from to be removed and used as earring hooks along with the colorful cabins. This design offers a unique interaction, combining functionality with personalization, giving users the ability to modify the piece according to their preferences.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was developed in 2024 in Tehran, Iran. The design process involved extensive research, modeling, and prototyping, requiring meticulous attention to both aesthetics and functionality.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design utilizes the threading method, incorporating spiral grooves on metal components to enable secure, screw-like connections. Commonly used in mechanical assemblies, this technique allows for detachable and movable parts. The necklace features modular cabins that can be arranged in a single or multiple colors. These cabins, designed with a bolt-and-nut mechanism, can be detached and transformed into earrings, while the Ferris wheel structure rotates, mimicking a real one.

The interiors of the cabins are filled with cold enamel in various colors.
Additionally, gears have been designed at the base of the cabins to facilitate the opening and closing of the screws.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This research focuses on designing jewelry that evokes nostalgia and aids in stress management. The study included theoretical research from books, articles, and websites, alongside practical experimentation through physical modeling. A user survey explored preferences for materials and transformable jewelry. The methodology involved 3D modeling in Matrix software and prototyping. Findings highlight how interactive jewelry enhances user experience and emotional well-being while contributing to the industry.
CHALLENGE: One of the main challenges was the mechanical design, particularly the threading mechanism. Finding academic resources on transformable jewelry was difficult. The high cost of gold led to considering silver and brass alternatives. The piece required separate 3D-printed parts for assembly. Precision was crucial in enameling and modeling. Another challenge was ensuring a seamless transformation of cabins into earrings while maintaining aesthetics and functionality.
