| DESIGN NAME: N Plus Magic House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cattery INSPIRATION: Many pet owners consider their cats as integral family members and seek cat houses that not only accommodate their pets living needs but also provide ample space for play and interaction to fulfill their emotional well-being. However, intricate and engaging cat house designs may impose limitations on the placement options for users, narrowing the range of target customers. In contrast, a modular design caters to individual preferences, offering greater versatility and adaptability. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The N plus Magic House restructures the conventional cat house through modularized design. Its fundamental structure comprises standardized units that allow for flexible combination, expansion, and disassembly. This design addresses the living and play needs of cats, allowing users to tailor the configuration based on spatial conditions and the habits of pets. Unlike traditional cat houses that typically serve a single function, it harmonizes with diverse placement scenarios. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The components and modules of the N plus Magic House are designed to be independent and interchangeable with a secure connection maintained. Users are not required to possess advanced tools or specialized skills, but simply insert the cage pieces into the connector slots and stack them like building blocks to form the desired shape of the cat house. Furthermore, the design allows for easy disassembly and reassembly at any time, enabling users to continually modify and enhance their cat personal space in accordance with their pet growth and preferences. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in July 2023 in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, and wrapped up in November 2024, also in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. Subsequently exhibited in November 2024 at Megazoo Korea. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The N plus Magic House is fabricated through injection molding, automatic wire welding, and plastic spraying processes, so that the overall design aligns with the behavioral and safety requirements of cats. Constructed from high-quality PP resin, the cage is impact-resistant and eco-friendly. The transparent components are made from PET, allowing owners to monitor their pets at ease. The rear section features Q195 carbon steel mesh that offers strength and durability. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 142.5x72.5x107cm TAGS: Cattery, Modular, Flexible, Personalized, Expanded RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the initial phase of development, the team gathered data on cats behavioral patterns, preferences, and the expectations of pet owners regarding cat houses. Additionally, they conducted an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the products available in the market, allowing them to leverage strengths and mitigate weaknesses in their design process. CHALLENGE: A notable challenge was to maintain the flexibility of the cube unit without compromising the overall stability of the assembled structure. To address this, the team enhanced existing connectors and tailored a high-strength, durable connector for the cat house. This innovative connector features a precise slot structure that would support greater weight and pressure, while its added non-slip texture design enhances friction with the cube unit, preventing loosening or detachment in use.
