DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Misterio

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Luminaires

INSPIRATION:
Misterio models are magical portals that can transform any space, filling it with mysterious light and atmosphere. The inspiration for them was the northern lights, which the shamans of the northern peoples considered a manifestation of supernatural forces. For example, the Yakuts, the indigenous people of Siberia, believed that the Northern Lights were a manifestation of the powerful spirits of nature.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Misterio collection is a magical symbiosis of light, colour and shape inspired by the Northern Lights. The main elements are made of glass with multi-color coloring. These shapes are like sea waves frozen in glass, which create a mesmerizing game of glare and change with every glance. A fresh solution with a ring element pointing inward provides soft lighting, emphasizes the beauty of the glass, creating picturesque light ornaments on the surrounding surfaces.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The luminaries of the collection create a significant luminous flux, so the models can be used in the standard way in the interior. Suspended lamps can be installed as main lighting or additional lighting for the workplace and for the recreation area. Moreover, since the models create bright highlights around them, they can be used for accent lighting in the interior.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2023 in Moscow and finished in January 2024 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Interlight in September 2024.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The models are made of cast glass with a smooth shape. Transparent glass is created with Multicolor effect. Thanks to this, color highlights are created on the glass and on the neighboring walls in the form of an interesting organic pattern. The metal base of the lamp is created in the form of a ring. Inside is an LED tape covered with a matte diffuser for soft lighting.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
An important part of the study was working with glass. Cast glass of such a complex wave shape cannot be made without a seam in the middle. Therefore, it was decided to make it from two halves, and in the middle use a metal ring with LED tape. Also, an important part was the study of the properties of light, since the ring shines inward, it was important to calculate the power of the LED strip so that the lamp creates a lot of light.

CHALLENGE:
The collection was inspired by the Northern Lights, so an important part of the work was finding the shape and technology to create such a vibrant and colorful light effect. The northern lights are an astronomical phenomenon, so it was decided to use the shape of the sphere, which is a symbol of celestial bodies, and to create a light effect, various techniques for working with glass were studied, and different forms of glass were studied to find out which shapes create the most interesting glare on neighboring planes. All this knowledge was obtained through a long search in a variety of sources.
