| DESIGN NAME: Pitcher Set PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wine or Soft Drink Service INSPIRATION: Classically used sirahs or carafes and goblets are produced with glass. It was produced to create an alternative to porcelain and at the same time to add a decorative and artistic touch with the high production taste of the craftsman. Slender and long-necked swans represent love. The outlines are inspired by the swan. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The porcelain jug/carafe is designed to preserve the temperature of the beverage to be served and help aerate it. With its elegant neck structure, it will add elegance to the tables and can also be a unique piece of home or kitchen decoration. The glasses will accompany you in your different and stylish presentations. Glasses produced with the firefly method, with their glass and porcelain combination structure, take on the color of the drink placed inside, creating a superior pleasure in addit OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The design was colored considering the suitability of white porcelain, also called bone porcelain, for food contact. It was cast in a plaster mold with liquid mud, and firefly patterns were engraved on the glasses with a special technique. Since firefly patterns are filled with glaze, they do not leak liquid and allow light to play. The nature used in this entire process was treated fairly and no living creature was harmed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project duration is eight months. I started in November 2023 and completed the final version in May 2024. The design was designed and produced in Monte Porcelain Ayvalık workshop. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It is produced by casting liquid mud into a plaster mold. It was baked in an electric oven at 1230 degrees. All raw materials used are harmless to human health and are suitable for food contact and dishwasher use. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Pitcher; Height 32cm Diameter 12cm İnternal volume 1200 ml Chalice; Height 11,5cm Diameter 9,5cm İnternal volume 150 ml TAGS: wine, glass, water, soft drink, beverage service, swan, home decor, kitchen decor RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The mouth design was made at a certain angle to prevent leakage from your mouth during use. The neck diameter was designed with special calculations to ensure that the jug, especially for beverages such as wine, can be ventilated correctly when emptied into the drinker. It has an angle that supports the handle not being folded by hand. By heating or cooling the porcelain, it makes it easier to serve the drink for a long time by keeping it at the right temperature. CHALLENGE: The porcelain I use in production shrinks by a total of 20% when it reaches its final state after firing. This high shrunken one is the most challenging step for the swan I produced with the mould. It is very difficult to take the dried product out of the mold and dry it without cracking by calculating its shrinkage after casting, it requires special, sensitivity and attention.
