PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Interior Design

INSPIRATION:
In order to echo the homeowner's characteristic and way of living, curved elements are used throughout the house to show softness and strength, while eliminating sharp edges. Whether in paint, cabinetry, or furniture, a consistent beige scheme is adopted to minimizes visual clutter. Seamless flooring connects public and private areas, expanding the visual space.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Starting from an empty shell, the design embraces minimalism to create a serene atmosphere, shaping a cohesive world of beige tones through modern spatial language. Thoughtful placement of materials such as mosaic tiles, countertops, pantry panel selections and texture wall finishes add visual depth to the space. Enhance by the harmonized lighting design to refined elegance. The home's layout is thoughtfully designed for openness, beginning with a curved entryway that naturally extends the visual flow. Adjusted angles and dual oval ceiling features guide the eye inward, leading visitors toward two expansive windows that frame a sweeping 180-degree river view. The master bedroom wall is replaced with a half-wall and glass partition, softening the division between private and communal areas, allowing the homeowner to enjoy the scenery from any vantage point. A seamless circulation path connects the curved entry, kitchen, dining area, dressing room, and guest bedroom, eliminating harsh edges while allowing light to flow effortlessly, enhancing spatial depth and transparency.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Light and shadow define the rhythm of life. The home is designed around natural lighting, complemented by a no-main-light concept. Considering its dual function as a photography space, a mix of indirect lighting, linear lights, and spotlights creates varied atmospheres, from dramatic to bright and airy or soft and warm. The walk-in closet features glass doors showcasing the homeowner’s lifelong achievements. Two curved walls add visual separation, enhancing the exclusivity of the display while making this area the highlight of the house.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project finished in Nov. 2024 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Skillfully integrating curves and mixed materials, the design establishes a sense of order within the space. Micro cement is boldly applied to floors, walls, and cabinetry, unifying the home with a warm beige base. Rounded wall corners, flowing ceiling curves, and seamless edges on wardrobes and cabinets all echo this core design language. Every detail eliminates sharp interruptions, allowing the eye to glide effortlessly, creating a smooth, continuous visual and spatial experience.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
This newly built single-story residence spans approximately 115 square meters.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Minimalist design may appear effortless, yet it is refined through meticulous details. The seamless fusion of materials and precise proportions highlight the craftsmanship. In the kitchen, an invisible induction cooktop replaces the traditional gas stove, while a beige tiled backsplash aligns perfectly with the upper cabinet doors and the maintenance access lines of the range hood. The master bathroom underwent a complete reconfiguration, with all pipelines rerouted. A sunken bathtub integrates harmoniously with the river view, blending privacy with nature.

CHALLENGE:
The residence extensively uses local materials and motifs. Tiles for the kitchen mosaic and bathroom floor, sourced locally, adds a local touch to the ambience, while the corridor linking public and private areas adopts a gallery-like design. The textured walls mimic the rustic surfaces of the homeowner’s childhood countryside home. At the corridor’s end, a concealed door features handcrafted stone-textured patterns, enhanced by lighting to evoke a sense of mystery. The decorative branches in the living resemble a piece of living art, making the home into a testament of beauty.
