PRIMARY FUNCTION: Home Backup Power
INSPIRATION: Amid growing climate and energy challenges, we designed a next-gen solar-powered smart energy system to make electricity use more stable, economical, and eco-friendly. It converts solar energy into clean power for households, with a UPS (0ms) function that automatically switches during outages, ensuring power continuity and boosting energy independence. The system also provides solutions for disaster and outage scenarios, enhancing resilience and sustainability for families.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Jackery Solar Generator 5000 Plus is a solar-charging and storage sustainable energy system. It consists of a single unit with a power of 7200W, and a maximum parallel power of 14400W, and a solar panel with a charging power of 500W per component and a maximum series power of 4000W. The system can be connected to the home power grid through a smart distribution box and a home power panel, providing users with stable and economical clean green energy.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The system requires only 3 cables and can be set up in 5 minutes without a professional electrician. The interface is well-organized: high-power output on the left, low-power output on the front, and input on the right for easy operation. The Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus is suitcase-shaped with a pull rod and pulley system for enhanced portability. It can connect to a mobile app for power monitoring, function settings, and remote control. The flat top design allows for easy stacking and meets power needs for home and outdoor use.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was completed in March 2024 in Shenzhen.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The energy storage device uses lithium iron phosphate batteries with a BMS for multiple protection, ensuring safe power usage. Its exclusive CTB design combines the cell bracket and back cover, reducing size by 10% and weight by 2 kg compared to traditional designs. The casing is made from shockproof, drop-resistant UL94V-0 fire-retardant plastic with UV inhibitors, offering high-temperature stability and a discharge range of-10 degree to 45 degree, meeting the needs of most regions.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This study focuses on exploring how to integrate solar panels, smart management systems, and energy storage technologies to provide self-sufficient green power solutions for households amidst climate change and the energy crisis. The research aims to leverage the system's potential in delivering clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and improving energy efficiency. Through online research, data from professional research companies, and user data analysis, the study evaluates the economic and environmental impacts of energy storage systems. The results show significant cost reduction and less reliance on traditional energy sources. The findings suggest that future energy systems should prioritize sustainability and autonomy, promoting the widespread use of green energy.
CHALLENGE: The most significant factor of this program is to provide comfortable human-machine operation in complex outdoor scenarios. The newly-added pull rod and pulley assembly involves ergonomics. After various experimental research, we designed the pull rod height to be no lower than 900mm and the ground clearance of wheels no lower than 15mm to conform to the ergonomic height and enable this product to move on grass, mud, gravel, etc.
