| DESIGN NAME: Wings PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sideboard INSPIRATION: Wings in Gothic and Art Deco styles represent celestial and spiritual elements. In Gothic style, wings symbolize angels, creating a spiritual atmosphere. In Art Deco, they symbolize speed and progress. The wings in both styles express humanity's longing for freedom, progress, and celestial ideals. Aesthetically, wings add beauty, grace, and elegant touch, while symbolically conveying a sense of elevation, spirituality, and purification. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Designed with the mystical inspiration of angels and their wings, this sideboard offers a fusion of styles: Gothic and Art Deco. The meticulously crafted copper wings, intricately engraved onto the wooden cabinet surfaces, bring a spiritual touch to the furniture, creating an original and enchanting appearance. The dark-toned wooden body and the tapered metal legs that give the console a floating-like effect, complete the extraordinary aesthetic of Wings, enhancing the sense of luxury. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Wings features a specially designed door mechanism that offers users an elegant opening experience. The doors open with a light touch, revealing the interior, while the concealed hinge system ensures a seamless surface flow. The interior compartments, covered in luxurious fabric, provide an ideal space for storing valuable items. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Designed in 2023 for luxury interiors with its high craftsmanship quality and artistic form, Wings was completed in 2024. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wings consists of wooden surfaces shaped with high-precision Cnc cutting and traditional handcrafting. The copper-coated wing details are meticulously hand-carved and seamlessly integrated into the body. The matte lacquer finish on the surface balances light reflections, while the velvet-textured interior coatings enhance the sense of luxury. Handcrafted copper legs with organic shapes enhance the piece's dynamic presence. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width: 201 cm, Height: 62 cm, Depth: 50 cm. TAGS: Wings, Gothic, Art Deco, Angel, Wing, Wood, Copper, Luxury, Mystical, Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research on the aesthetic and symbolic use of wing forms in Gothic and Art Deco architecture formed the foundation of Wings concept. Historical and contemporary design approaches were studied to develop a surface language enhanced with elegant curves and dynamic movement. Material selection and the interplay of light and shadow were optimized to create a strong design identity. CHALLENGE: One of the biggest design challenges of Wings was the flawless three-dimensional modeling of the wing-shaped surface. A combination of Cnc cutting and handcrafting was used to achieve an organic flow. A special hinge mechanism was developed to make the opening system of the doors invisible.
