| DESIGN NAME: Eave PRIMARY FUNCTION: Control Terminal INSPIRATION: The design inspiration comes from the small bridges, flowing water, and houses of Jiangnan water towns. Employing graceful eave lines and the delicate flow of water, it symbolises the traditional architectural style of Jiangnan water towns and the natural beauty of flowing water. This not only embodies the Eastern philosophy of Harmony Between Man and Nature, emphasising the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, but also bestows the product with cultural heritage and aesthetic value. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a smart panel inspired by the Jiangnan water town landscape, offering a comfortable, convenient, and secure interactive experience for users. It balances aesthetics with functionality, expanding the concept of Harmony Between Man and Nature from ancient Chinese philosophy into a visual feedback of Eastern aesthetics. It integrates environmental control, energy management and other functions, achieving interconnection of whole house devices and enhancing living comfort and convenience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This device supports control methods of knob, button, and mobile app. It meets various functions such as intelligent adjustment, remote control, security monitoring, and energy saving management. The knob indicator intuitively displays the working status through various light effects, providing users with a convenient, intelligent, and energy efficient experience. Moreover, Eave features an elderly care mode that synchronises the sleep status and fall alerts of the elderly to caregivers. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main body of the product is crafted from 6063 aluminium alloy, offering corrosion and scratch resistance. The button cover surface utilises sandblasting anodisation to achieve an imitation stone texture, while the knob surface employs mirror polished anodisation. Bearings and optical tracking sensors are applied at the knob position to ensure smooth rotation. To this end, the design team delved into the cultural connotations and aesthetic characteristics of Jiangnan water towns, developing this smart panel. The aim was to showcase the natural scenery and humanistic sentiment of Jiangnan water towns through unique design language, offering users a brand new interactive experience. CHALLENGE: Combining traditional aesthetics with modern technology posed a challenge during the R and D process. The smart control panel presents graceful eave lines horizontally and simulates the delicate flow of water vertically, symbolising the traditional architectural style and water forms of Jiangnan water towns. The elegance of Jiangnan is blended in one, allowing users to experience the charm of Eastern aesthetics and feel the intertwining of tradition and modernity, nature and craftsmanship.
