| DESIGN NAME: Zuoxi Rainbow PRIMARY FUNCTION: Down Jacket INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the Zuoxi Rainbow Down Jacket stems from the desire to bring warmth and vitality into the monotonous palette of traditional winter clothing through the vibrant spectrum of a natural rainbow. Motivated by the need for functional yet emotionally expressive children's wear, the design team sought to create a jacket that not only protects against the elements but also celebrates the innocence and liveliness of childhood. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Zuoxi Rainbow Down Jacket stands out with its vibrant design inspired by the natural rainbow, diverging from conventional winter wear's dull color schemes. It uniquely integrates DuPont's three-proof technology (oil, stain, and soil resistance) into nylon silk fabric, ensuring durability and easy maintenance while preserving vivid hues. The jacket's ergonomic tailoring offers children maximum comfort and mobility. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through the use of meticulously designed ergonomic tailoring, the jacket ensures comfort and freedom of movement for children during activities. Particularly, the widened windproof hood design effectively blocks cold winds, keeping children warm during outdoor activities. The silver ion heat-retention layer on the back utilizes "Back-Warm Technology" to continuously provide warmth, ensuring optimal comfort for children in low-temperature environments. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in April 2023 in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China, and concluded in March 2024. It became available for sale on major sales platforms starting from April 2024. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The outer shell is constructed from nylon silk, a fabric prized for its lightweight durability and smooth texture. This material is further enhanced with DuPont's proprietary three-proof technology, which imparts oil, stain, and water repellency through molecular surface treatments that do not compromise the fabric's breathability or color integrity. Research Type Applied research, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. 2. Research Objectives Evaluate the practicality and comfort of the product design. Analyze consumer satisfaction. Identify potential areas for improvement. 3. Methods Surveys, focus group discussions, and field tests. 4. Results High Satisfaction: The colors and design are well-received. Functional Validation: Good warmth retention and water/stain resistance. Suggestions for Improvement: Add adjustable cuffs for better fit across different body types. CHALLENGE: The most challenging aspect of the Zuoxi Rainbow Down Jacket design process was balancing aesthetic innovation with functional excellence and sustainable practices. Internally, the team had to reconcile historical perceptions of winter wear (typically associated with muted colors and bulk) with a vibrant, lightweight design that appeals to children's lively nature. Socially, there was a need to address parents' concerns regarding safety and hypoallergenic properties, especially for children with sensitive respiratory systems.
