| DESIGN NAME: Plants Rhythm PRIMARY FUNCTION: Air Conditioner INSPIRATION: In conventional air conditioning design, air conditioning condensate is often discharged as wastewater. In fact, after cleaning the interior of the air conditioner, its purity is high and its pH is neutral, making it a high-quality irrigation water source and providing a good growth environment for green plants. Based on this, we have designed an environmentally friendly air conditioner that allows for the recycling of condensed water, achieving symbiosis between plants and the air conditioner. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This air conditioner seamlessly integrates functionality with aesthetic appeal. Its internal mechanism automatically repurposes condensation water for plant irrigation. The integrated planting module, designed for straightforward installation and removal, enables users to customize interior landscapes by seasonally updating the vegetation. The incorporated greenery enhances air quality through continuous oxygen release via light-driven conversion. Additionally, an automated illumination system activates under low-light conditions to ensure nighttime accessibility. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Rotate the transparent cover on the surface of the sphere to replace the plants inside. Easy to install and disassemble, allowing for easy replacement of plants inside the ball. The built-in lighting design allows it to be used as a night light decoration at night. The soft lighting, combined with green plants, has a healing effect on the soul. The product has a deeper emotional connection and interaction with users. Simultaneously improving the home environment. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Lishui, China in September 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The detachable green plant decoration cover adopts the structure of combining metal frame and plastic grid, which can not only ensure good air permeability, but also provide stable growth support for green plants. The plant ball adopts an automatic irrigation system, which automatically adjusts the amount and time of watering by sensing indoor humidity and temperature to ensure the water required for the growth of green plants. CHALLENGE: The first problem we face is how to make use of air conditioner wastewater; Secondly, how to combine green plants with air conditioning should be considered; Finally, we need to think about how to skillfully integrate the new design into the family environment. Therefore, various attempts have been made in the shape and structure of the product.
