DESIGN NAME: Centrestage 2024
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Event Organiser Space
INSPIRATION: The combination of "craftsmanship" and "technological advancement" was the concept of the event, which transformed traditional craft techniques and innovative technologies into stylish and unique fashion. The use of bold red color represented motivated action for the fashion industry. The vitality and strong emotions, including love, passion, and intensity, in the “craftformation” broke through traditional fashion arts with avant-garde trends and creativity.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: CENTRESTAGE, the annual highlight of the Asian fashion scene, serves as a premier platform for promoting global designer brands and collections and facilitating the launch of new products in the region. HKTDC invited industry professionals from around the world to participate in the annual event, fostering collaborative opportunities. This year we showcased 250 brands from 17 countries and regions, offered a captivating lineup of events including fashion shows, seminars, networking activities and fashion tours for all visitors.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The main event at HKCEC featured five thematic zones: Craftmanship, Urban, Contemporary, Athleisure, and Circular Fashion. The strategically designed layout and thoughtful venue decoration, including the Main Stage, Presentation, and Mini Parade areas enriched our trade hall & shows variety. For the ELITES show at the Palace Museum, inspired by "HOME" and "Circle" concept, we created a circular runway centered with a 5.8m diameter by 2.3m height, a mega incense mountain, blended with unique lighting effects to create a world-class haute couture event.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: CENTRESTAGE, a 4-day fashion event, was held from 4th to 7th September 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The CENTRESTAGE ELITES show took place at the Hong Kong Palace Museum the night before the fair opened.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The couture journey began with raw fabric, progressing through craftsmanship to modern technology. Projection technology and lighting created dynamic patterns on fabric, with LED walls and interactive floor enhancing the immersive experience. Decorative elements like mega cotton fabric, beads, plastic, and LED lights symbolized fashion's evolution. Graphics blended classical lace and embroidery with futuristic coding and pixel elements, featured with AI generated models with runway shows, illustrating the dynamic transformation of fashion craftsmanship across different eras.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This year's CENTRESTAGE events were divided into two parts. The ELITES show at the Hong Kong Palace Museum occupied 450 sqm and hosted 300 guests. The grand event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center spanned over 11000 sqm, featuring a fairground space and a highlighted main calkwalk stage for 600 guests. The meticulous planning and innovative design elements ensured an immersive and unforgettable experience for all attendees.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The CENTRESTAGE event featured an AI-generated model video to promote exhibitors' collections, created immersive and interactive moments perfect for Instagram. A highlight was the use of over 150,000 incense sticks to form a mega-sized incense mountain, serving as a dynamic backdrop for the ELITES models. This innovative approach combined traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, offering an unique and captivating experience for all attendees.
CHALLENGE: We dedicated 9 months from thorough research, planning, follow with study industry trend and innovative design. This approach aimed to create a "wow" factor, such as the 10m long interactive floor with dynamic hanging fabric above. Similarly the vibrant overhead neon LED light strings at the Urban zones required detailed drawing and coordination. It was also crucial to have an experienced support team on site, especially for ELITES at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, ensuring a smooth move-in and transforming the museum space into an immersive show venue within 16 hours.
