DESIGN NAME: China International Import Expo 2024
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Space
INSPIRATION: The food service pavilion design seamlessly integrated Hong Kong's rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional architectural elements. The two-layer overhead tower, complemented by scrolling LED signage, captured the essence of Hong Kong as a dynamic and vibrant international city. Embracing the theme of energetic rhythm, the Hong Kong service pavilion showcased a visually captivating curved open wall design, creating a harmonious sense of movement and dynamic flow. The colorful patterns vividly reflected the liveliness of the city's bustling streets.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To support Hong Kong companies in expanding their domestic sales in the mainland China market, two pavilions at CIIE 2024 were established: the Hong Kong products pavilion and the Hong Kong service industry pavilion. These pavilions served as vital platforms for Hong Kong enterprises promoting their branded services and products with ethnic cultural and regional features, such as foods, health, and household products.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Located at the Shanghai National Convention & Exhibition Center, the largest exhibition complex in China, it was essential to have a strategic layout and distinctive design to improve visibility and attract traffic from afar. By enhancing the overhead tower design with striking elements, impactful lighting effects, and LED treatments, it stood out effectively while providing personal space for individual exhibitors from Hong Kong to showcase their services and latest developments.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project, held from November 5 to 10, 2024, at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center, highlighted innovative and sustainable design. As each pavilion had its own business focus and program requirements, we allowed total of six months from design kick-off to project completion.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We emphasized an eco-friendly approach with a reusable framing system and LED technology to enhance both physical and digital experiences while reducing onsite wastage. In the Product Pavilion, we introduced a two-layer champagne gold metal structure with transparent accent panels, marble-patterned wall finishes, and an LED scrolling display board, creating a warm, modern, and sustainable design.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Hong Kong Pavilions at CIIE 2024 featured two distinct areas. The Product Pavilion, measuring 34.5m W x 29.1m D x 6m H, covered approximately 1000 sqm and hosted 44 exhibitors showcasing Food and Health-related products. The Service Pavilion, at 24.2m W x 20.7m D x 6m H, spanned around 500 sqm and accommodated 18 exhibitors from professional services and logistics sectors, enabling direct engagement with buyers for new business and partnership opportunities.

CHALLENGE: The project required managing tight move-in schedules, site access limitations, and logistics with the event organizer. The design incorporated effective modular planning to expedite installation and minimize on-site complexity. By exploring creative booth design details, logistics solutions, and installation methods, we enhanced efficiency and reduced delays. Additionally, sustainable design was a key requirement, integrating eco-friendly materials and practices to meet the organizer's specification, and we proudly won the Gold Booth Design Award this year.
