DESIGN NAME: International Jewellery Show 2024
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Space
INSPIRATION: To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, we created a vibrant event experience which allowed all visitors to Be part of the Splendid Legacy. Through the unique hall layout and thematic zone design around the four seasons, it reflected different moods and styles of our priceless masterpieces, which symbolized the cycle of life and creativity. The design team's cohesive approach created a visually stunning experience that captivated visitors and showcased breathtaking collections.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is an annual trade fair held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It showcases a wide range of jewelry and gemstones, featuring distinct zones like the Hall of Extraordinary and Hall of Fame. The event highlights international and regional manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, traders, buyers, and designers, providing a significant platform for global market engagement.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The exhibition halls are designed according to the theme of four seasons, each reflecting a different mood and style of jewellery. The four seasons also symbolize the cycle of life and creativity in the jewellery industry. The design team's approach was to create a cohesive and visually stunning experience that would captivate visitors and showcase the breathtaking jewellery collections. By carefully curating the layout, lighting, and thematic elements of each zone, they were able to enhance the allure of the featured pieces and guide attendees on a journey of discovery.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The event was held from 29th Feb to 4th Mar 2024 at Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). We spent over six months from design kick-off to project completion, focus on hall layout design & visitors journey. We transformed the venue into a premier diamond event, ensuring every detail was meticulously curated to enhance the experience for both exhibitors and buyers. This strategic approach not only showcased the brilliance and allure of diamond brands but also fostered meaningful connections within the industry, making the event a pivotal business hub for all visitors.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design team integrated AI generated image as a key visual for different thematic halls, such as the floral diamond scepter for spring, lively gem ladybird for summer, to emphasize the beauty and delicacy of the jewelry. This innovative approach highlighted the contrast between nature and technology, showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation of the exhibitors. The overall design strategy involved creating thematic elements for each season, enhancing the focus to our featured diamonds and guiding attendees on a journey of discovery. The use of AI and technology not only added a modern touch but also enhanced the visual and interactive experience for the visitor.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The event showcased the best of the jewelry industry, with 18 distinct zones in 5 major exhibition halls including Hall 1, Hall 3, Hall 5, Grand Hall & Convention Hall, with a total 750,000 sqft. Due to the tight 3-days installation period, we applied a lightweight and easily assembled structural system like aluminium framing system and semi-transparent frosted panel to create the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter themes for each major zone, created an unforgettable experience for our visitors. This logistical hurdle required exceptional planning, coordination, and the implementation of innovative solutions to ensure the successful transformation of the vast space.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The exhibition halls were designed according to the theme of four seasons, with AI integrated concept, each reflecting a different mood and style of jewelry. Spring featured a refreshing garden with floral arches, Summer celebrated craftsmanship with a vibrant forest theme and AI ladybirds, Fall showcased prestigious pieces in a golden villa, and Winter offered a luxurious experience with a winter castle and sparkling snowflakes. The design team's approach aimed to enhance the allure of the jewelry collections and guide attendees on a journey of discovery
CHALLENGE: We faced significant challenges to transforming a 750,000 sqft exhibition hall in less than 3 days. The design team had to work within a tight schedule and budget, while to create articulate decorative pieces and incorporate different architectural languages. For example the Safari forest with live plantings for Summer, European arches and columns for Fall, together with different lighting treatment, applied different material, texture and VM display items to enhance the overall ambiance.
