| DESIGN NAME: Sliding PRIMARY FUNCTION: Remote Control INSPIRATION: The current air conditioning remote control on the market is not friendly to the blind and is not sustainable enough. Sliding uses a blind-friendly design. It has a braille display designed for blind people, making these buttons easy to read for the blind. In addition, this remote control is also equipped with a voice system to assist the blind to operate, which is more convenient for the blind to use. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sliding is an air conditioner remote control designed for the blind. It has a braille display that is convenient for the blind to perceive, a sliding button for quick temperature adjustment, and an arrow-shaped button for precise adjustment. In addition, this blind remote control is also equipped with a magnetic charging panel, which not only solves the inconvenience of the blind to replace the battery but also helps the blind fix the position of the remote control. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The braille display helps the blind people to confirm the current set temperature of the air conditioner. The slide button allows you to quickly adjust the temperature. And the arrow-shaped button allows precise temperature adjustment. The mode and airflow buttons are integrated on both sides of a large button, which helps the blind to switch quickly and easily by matching the voice announcement. The remote control has a voice control button on the side, which enables the blind to control the air conditioner directly by voice. Sliding is equipped with a magnetic panel, which can fix anywhere and charge the remote control. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2024 in Ningbo China. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Sliding uses magnetic panel charging, which effectively reduces the use of disposable batteries and is more environmentally friendly. It was found that the existing remote controls are extremely unfriendly to the blind. The blind have difficulty in operating them easily and cannot conveniently obtain the information output by them. This situation highlights the gap in the market, which has thus become the opportunity for this project to develop an air conditioner remote control specifically for the blind. The aim is to create an easy-to-use remote control for the blind to help them regain a sense of control and comfortable experience in life. CHALLENGE: Firstly, it is necessary to design a tactile interface that can effectively convey information to the blind while being intuitive and easy to use. Secondly, how to output information through the button operation interface so that the blind can quickly identify and operate. Thirdly, how to ensure that the remote control can have an ultra-long standby time to solve the problem of battery replacement for the blind.
