DESIGN NAME: JJ Lin JJ20 World Tour
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Concert
INSPIRATION: The JJ20 World Tour Concert centers on the theme of "the road," celebrating Singaporean singer JJ Lin's 20-year musical journey. Drawing from his life story and the worlds behind his music, each song reflects his personal experiences.
With performances emphasizing well-being, the concert inspires audiences to stay positive through challenges.
Blending music, storytelling, and cutting-edge visuals, JJ20 transcends a career milestone, offering fans a powerful journey of inspiration and resilience.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The concert stage embodies the concept of "the road," with a mirrored "J" forming a vertical road symbol and a horizontal LED creating the look of intersecting paths. Celebrating the artist's 20th anniversary, the design uniquely integrates his name.
The intersecting LED screens feature hidden mechanisms: vertical LEDs house two large cubes that can elevate performers or connect into a platform, while the horizontal LED moves to reveal hidden spaces for seamless transitions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: JJ places great importance on fan interaction and the audience experience. Throughout the tour, the performance has continuously evolved, with each show building on the last.
Through extensive discussions, ideas were refined to deliver the final show to the audience. Upgrades such as improved horizontal LED connections, custom-printed confetti, and drone performances were implemented to enhance the concert experience for fans.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The tour started in November 2022 and finished in November 2024, covered 40 cities and total 77 shows around the world.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: JJ opens the concert with a heartfelt piano performance of "Remember," evoking cherished memories.
As LED panels unfold, the stage transforms into a futuristic world with advanced technology, robotic figures co-designed by JJ, and dynamic dancers. This blend of past, present, and future creates a deeply immersive journey.
Fusing music, storytelling, and cutting-edge visuals, JJ20 celebrates two decades of JJ Lin’s career—a journey of inspiration and boundless creativity that resonates worldwide.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The primary venues for this tour are designed to the scale of stadiums. To accommodate this, the stage boasts a maximum horizontal span of 95 meters and features large-scale LED screens, ensuring that even the farthest audience members have a clear view of the performance.
A massive overhead structure, measuring 24 meters in height, 30 meters in width, and 26 meters in depth, serves as the primary support for lighting, rigging, and provides weather protection for the performance area.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The concert's sensory aesthetics stem from JJ's mindset, interests, and style, shaping a sci-fi-inspired stage and program design. This dynamic approach allowed the team to craft a unique concert worldview.
Visual elements featured diverse mediums—Japanese anime, 3D spatial scans, hand-drawn art, live-action footage, and CGI graphics—to reimagine iconic songs and provide fans with a fresh and unforgettable visual journey.
CHALLENGE: Outdoor performances face numerous challenges due to weather conditions.
Whether it's extreme heat or cold, can cause instability and malfunctions in equipment. Heavy rain poses an even greater threat, potentially damaging video and lighting equipment on stage, creating slippery conditions, and even compromising microphones.
While the weather cannot be controlled, production teams can take proactive steps to minimize risks and ensure a smooth performance.
