| DESIGN NAME: Dark Knight PRIMARY FUNCTION: AI Smart Mattress INSPIRATION: This smart mattress is designed based on thorough research into ergonomics and sleep science, as well as insights into the growing demand for sleep quality among people living hectic lifestyles. The design team noticed that traditional mattresses often failed to dynamically adapt to different body types and sleeping postures, negatively affecting sleep experiences. This leads to the creation of this smart mattress, enhancing sleep quality with its customized support and dynamic adaptability. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This smart mattress is structured with seven layers, integrating AI large model analysis and an intelligent support system to offer personalized support for users of different body types. It also transcends the static nature of conventional mattresses by dynamically adjusting to changes in sleeping posture, delivering a proper fit and support in real time. This innovation not only improves sleep quality and comfort but also helps promote healthy sleep habits. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The integrated electric bed frame offers independent adjustments for the head and foot sections, catering to various scenarios like reading, watching TV, and sleeping. Its memory function allows users to recall their ideal positions with just a button press. The airbags inside automatically adapt to different angles and modes of the bed frame for seamless support. An NFC chip is embedded in the mattress side, enabling users to access the adjustment interface just by tapping it with a smartphone. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design and development of this smart mattress started in February 2023. It is scheduled to be launched in 2025. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The mattress is wrapped in a self developed fabric with a black skin like surface, which is finely textured, elastic, and resistant to wrinkles. The entire mattress is made from recyclable and renewable materials, reflecting a dedication the brand has made to sustainable development. The skin friendly materials enhance both stretchability and comfort, and the quilting follows the D and K motifs at the corners, maintaining a sleek, rounded look even during daily use and electric adjustments. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to offer a healthier, more comfortable, and smarter sleep experience. With 240 flexible sensors in the pressure sensing pad, the mattress detects pressure from different body parts and shapes, customizing its support accordingly. Using AI large model analysis, the airbag layer dynamically adapts to changes in sleep positions, ensuring a seamless fit whether lying on the side, back, or stomach. And the smart app provides professional sleep quality reports and improvement advice.
