| DESIGN NAME: Evolution PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting INSPIRATION: Evolution can be seen not only in living species, but also in design. The collection of the same name is dedicated to the transformation of modern design. How the design of things around us is becoming more human-centered and friendly. The EVOLUTION collection can be easily modified as people's practical needs and visual preferences change. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Evolution collection is a prime example of the concept of 'human-centered design'. The user first notice that the appearance of the luminaires can be changed by rotating the lampshades. And to create compositions from 1 or more products. But then the user's understanding of functionality develops. And they realize that by changing the arrangement of the lampshades it is possible not only to change the appearance of the luminaires, but also to change the properties of the light. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The collection includes pendants with different color schemes. This makes them suitable for different interiors and compositions. These LED luminaires have frosted diffusers to create soft, comfortable lighting in the home. The collection also includes a floor lamp with a compact and stable marble base for use in rooms of different sizes. The EVOLUTION collection offers design variation, a variety of lighting scenarios, soft lighting and color variety in a single original design solution. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2023 in Moscow and finished in January 2024 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Interlight in September 2024. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lampshades are made of fabric with a metal frame. They are placed on a specially designed metal base with an ingenious attachment. This allows the lampshades to rotate 360 degrees, changing the design and lighting effects of the luminaire. The mounting allows the lampshades to be stable at any angle of inclination. The metal base contains high quality LEDs. They are covered with frosted acrylic diffusers to create a soft, pleasant light. The pendants are suspended on two metal cords, allowing users to adjust them to the desired position without twisting. TAGS: alexey danilin RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The main challenge of the creative search was to find a concrete idea for a transformer luminaire. So that the transformation would have both practical lighting properties and an interesting creative solution. Hundreds of pencil sketches were made for this task, showing different ways of transforming by turning, bending, folding and so on. As well as different variations of shapes. CHALLENGE: The main technical challenge was to design a metal lamp body with fastenings for turning the fabric lampshades. So that the lampshade not only rotates along its radius, but also remains in a different position and does not change position under its own weight. To achieve this, the radii of the fixing elements have been minimized. This requires very precise manufacturing.
