| DESIGN NAME: No Screw PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lock INSPIRATION: Traditional luggage locks with screws cause inefficiency and complexity in production and maintenance. In response, this design prioritizes efficient assembly and easy maintenance by using a split structure of a lock body and an anti reverse base shell. This innovation eliminates screws entirely, simplifying assembly for enhanced production automation. It also allows users to quickly and easily disassemble and maintain the lock, making it more practical and convenient. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This luggage lock boasts an innovative no screw design that enhances efficient assembly and easy maintenance. The lock consists of two main parts: the lock body and the anti reverse base shell. Users can easily slide the locking component on the base shell into place for quick and secure installation. The accompanying disassembly handle facilitates quick separation of the lock body and the base shell. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The innovative split structure of a lock body and an anti reverse base shell eliminates the need for screws. Assembly becomes a breeze: just slide the locking component onto the base shell into place, and it is ready to use. This promotes productivity and automation in manufacturing. If damaged, users can easily detach the lock using the accompanying disassembly handle by pressing and sliding it to the unlock position, without resorting professional help. This makes maintenance hassle free. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design and development of this no screw lock started in 2020, and it was introduced to the Chinese market in 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For efficient assembly and durability, this product features a split design with a lock body and an anti reverse base shell for a no screw design. Both assembly personnel and users can easily assemble and disassemble the lock without using additional tools, enhancing convenience and maintainability. Made from durable, lightweight ABS material, the lock ensures travelers are not burdened by extra weight while effectively resisting impact and wear for a longer lifespan. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 98.35*31.83*24mm TAGS: Tool free installation, Luggage combination lock, Anti reverse design, Easily detachable structure, Environmental friendly ABS material RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Emphasizing efficient assembly, easy maintenance, and green production, the lock boasts two split parts: a lock body and an anti reverse base shell for a no screw design. This simplifies assembly, lowers maintenance costs, and eliminates electroplated screws. Over 80 percent of the lock is made from environmental friendly ABS, making it lightweight and resistant to bumps and scratches. This eases the burden on travelers and extends its lifespan for less environmental impact. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to securely assemble the lock body and the base shell without using screws. To this end, the design team has developed an anti reverse mechanism inspired by a cable tie, which supports only one way operation. The sliding component on the the base shell features an outer protrusion that can precisely fit into the serrated edges on the lock body, ensuring secure locking and preventing reverse separation.
