PRIMARY FUNCTION: Futuristic E-Bike Concept
INSPIRATION: The ModuCruze project was inspired by the need to expand the utility of e-bikes in urban and recreational settings. Traditional bikes often lack storage and customization, so I aimed to create a model that provides both. Observing the trend toward personalization, I wanted a design that each user could tailor to their lifestyle, blending functionality with a customizable, stylish look. This concept reimagines the e-bike as both a practical vehicle and an expression of individuality.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The ModuCruze redefines the e-bike with a focus on functionality, customization, and sleek design. Its electric powertrain allows for a compact, storage-friendly package, ideal for commuters and adventurers alike. The modular, removable panels enable easy personalization, inviting users to change colors, add accessories, and adapt the bike to their style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Modu is operated using a simple interface, with throttle and brake controls on the handlebars, while the electric powertrain provides smooth acceleration. Its modular design allows easy transformation by removing or reattaching panels for customization. Key interaction points include adjusting the bike’s settings via an app and changing the bike’s appearance. The bike performs better by offering superior storage, customization, and adaptability, making it more versatile, user-friendly, and efficient than traditional e-bikes.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ModuCruze needs an efficient electric powertrain with a compact battery for optimal range and space-saving. Modular panel technology supports the customizable "wrapability" feature, allowing easy removal and personalization. Lightweight composite materials provide durability, while connectivity features, like app integration, offer performance tracking and setting customization, enhancing the user experience. This blend of tech ensures functionality, style, and adaptability for riders.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design research for the Modu focused on understanding user needs, market trends, and technological advancements. We explored how people use e-bikes, what features they value most (like storage, customization, and ease of use), and how design can enhance those experiences. We also studied the latest materials and tech, ensuring the bike is lightweight, durable, and easy to maintain. The goal was to create a versatile, practical, and personalized bike that meets both functional and aesthetic desires.
CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was balancing functionality, aesthetics, and user customization in a compact e-bike. One obstacle was designing a modular, removable panel system that was both durable and easy to use, which required extensive prototyping. Internally, we had to align with historical trends of minimalism while integrating modern tech. Externally, we navigated production limitations, regulatory requirements (such as safety standards), and material constraints. Additionally, keeping the technology affordable while offering premium features was a key challenge.
