DESIGN NAME: Brown Brothers Limited Edition
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wine Packaging
INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of tropical summer parties and the concept of "reunion" in Asian culture. Our goal was to create an immersive experience, reflecting the energy of different moments throughout the day—morning, twilight, and midnight. Extensive research into scented-ink printing allowed us to blend visual excitement with olfactory elements, enhancing the sensory engagement of each design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Brown Brothers Fruity Sparkling Moscato packaging uses scented ink, enhancing both visual and olfactory engagement. Designed for three distinct moments—morning, twilight, and midnight—the packaging offers an interactive experience, immersing users in a tropical party vibe. Its innovative multisensory features, paired with the cultural "reunion" concept for the Asian market, make this design stand out.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The packaging interacts with users in a multisensory way. The scented ink enhances the experience by releasing a unique fragrance, matching the mood of morning, twilight, or midnight. This playful interaction creates a dynamic and engaging experience for users, making every moment feel festive and personal while enhancing the overall enjoyment of the product.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2023 in Shanghai and finished in May 2024, and was officially launched for sale in July 2024.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The packaging uses scented ink that is tailored to each design, creating environmental excitement and enhancing the olfactory experience. The bottles are produced with eco-friendly, recyclable materials. Advanced printing techniques were used to ensure high-quality graphics that reflect the tropical party atmosphere, while also maintaining durability and consumer appeal.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Brown Brothers Fruity Sparkling Moscato bottle is a standard 750 ml wine bottle with dimensions of approximately 75 mm in width, 75 mm in depth, and 300 mm in height. The packaging features scents for each time-of-day variant. The bottle is made from recyclable glass, with high-quality printing for durability and eco-friendliness. The total weight, including liquid, is approximately 1200 g, ensuring it maintains a premium feel while being practical for handling and shipping.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The objective was to enhance user interaction through multisensory design. The methodology involved market analysis and consumer behavior studies to understand preferences. Data was collected via focus groups and user testing, using tools like surveys and sensory evaluations. Participants were young adults, aged 25-35, in Asia. Results showed a strong preference for cold-activated and scented ink features. Insights indicated that multisensory packaging increases product engagement and aligns well with festive consumer behavior, positively impacting business and design trends.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was integrating multisensory elements, while maintaining high production quality and cost efficiency. Another obstacle was ensuring that the design resonated with both the Asian market's cultural concept of "reunion" and the festive tropical theme. Technological limitations in ink production and sustainable material sourcing required innovative solutions, balancing aesthetics with environmental impact.
