| DESIGN NAME: Cozy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Expandable Cat Travel Bag INSPIRATION: Cat bags are a necessity for every cat owner, but the low usage rate makes them sit unused most of the time, causing waste and storage problems.Our goal is to design a multi-functional cat bag that can be used by cats on the go, and can also be a toy or cat bed for cats, reducing the amount of time the product sits unused. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Cozy is a multi-functional cat bag that solves the problem of leaving traditional cat bags unused and stored when not in use.The cat bag can be easily switched into both a cat bag and a cat scratching board (cat mat).The cat bag retains a visual ventilation window for cat safety.The cat cushion part is detachable design, users can change different materials according to the season, and convenient for daily cleaning.The Cat Pack is available in a variety of colourways for users to choose from. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cozy is easy to use. When closed, it can be used as a cat outing bag, and when unfolded, it can be used as a wall-mounted cat scratching board or cat mat.When you need to store it away, you can easily push it under the sofa or hang it on the wall. Flexible conversion adds fun for families and cats. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Shenzhen in March 2024 and completed in Shenzhen in August 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cozy's production process focuses on the comfort of cats.The inner part of the bag that comes into contact with the cat is made of soft stretch fabric and sisal rope to minimise the threat of the material to the safety of the cat.At the same time, these materials ensure that the cat pack can switch states easily.The outer frame is made of hollow aluminium tubes and hollow wooden boards, which enables the cat bag to reduce its weight.The cat pad section uses Velcro to make the pad easy to change and clean. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Standard Product Dimensions:Width 460 mm x Depth 350 mm x Height 430 mm Product Unfolded Dimensions:Width 870 mm x Depth 460 mm x Height 25 mm TAGS: Cat Outing Bag, Expandable, Multifunctional RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our research with 500 cat owners found that 83 per cent of them are used to carrying a cat bag when taking their cat out, while only 12 per cent do not have this habit.This suggests that it is common for cats to carry their kits on the go, however, kits take up a lot of space and can be a problem to store when not in use.To address this challenge, we designed an expandable (multi-functional) cat carrier that can be unfolded to be used as a wall-mounted cat scratching board or cat mat when the carrier is not in use, and a flat surface that reduces storage space. CHALLENGE: The stretch properties of the fabric were one of the biggest challenges in the concept,Switching between the two states requires the fabric to have excellent stretch properties, and the current solution is to incorporate an elasticated cord at the top to give it excellent overall stretch properties.
