DESIGN NAME: Shine Biomedical
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the minimalist and naturalistic elements of Scandinavian design, this concept emphasizes a harmonious balance between comfort and functionality. The company places innovation and employee well-being at its core. The designer incorporates extensive use of glass partitions to create an open space, fostering a professional yet stress-relieving workplace. Large green walls and pastel-colored furniture seamlessly integrate natural elements with a modern ambiance, reflecting the company's spirit of innovation and vitality in the beauty and biotech industries.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The space utilizes large color blocks to create a warm, natural, and grand atmosphere. Transparent glass partitions enhance openness, while frosted glass film in meeting rooms ensures privacy without compromising natural light. The ceiling features an open-top structure, maintaining vertical spaciousness and creating an airy feel. Woven carpets and wood grain patterns add depth, blending modernity with elegance. As meeting rooms require more equipment and lighting, integrated fixtures tailored to room sizes are installed to reduce visual clutter and maintain a clean, cohesive design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For employees, the spacious and cozy environment, paired with bright lighting, helps reduce eye strain even during long work hours. The open layout encourages interaction and communication, enhancing collaboration. The business owner is particularly satisfied with the flow of the space-dynamic advertisements that appear on the left upon entry, the brand's image wall stands ahead, and a history wall on the right highlights company milestones and flagship products, creating a strong first impression. Overall, both employees and the owner appreciate the thoughtful design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in July 2024 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials used include woven carpets, woodwork, eco-friendly paint, metal panels, wood veneer, and whiteboards. The subtle reflective texture of the paint complements the patterned woven carpets, creating a cohesive and comfortable yet professional appearance.
The low-saturation color scheme evokes the simplicity and rustic charm of the Scandinavian style. Furniture in pastel tones adds vibrancy and a touch of playfulness to the otherwise calm environment. Finally, the carefully designed lighting highlights the professionalism of a modern enterprise.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The site spans 545.4 square meters. The reception area features semi-low sofas, providing a warm welcome to guests while offering a view of the brand's image wall. This wall, made of dark-toned metal, contrasts with surrounding wood textures and woven materials. Adjacent to it, the meeting room and reception desk serve as a space for discussions. Further inside, a combined lounge and refreshment area with soft fabric sofas and stools creates a relaxed environment. The office, positioned at the back, benefits from ample natural light streaming in from three sides.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project is an office for a biomedical brand, blending professionalism with the comfort of a modern workspace. The open layout enhances interaction and efficiency, while sliding glass doors balance privacy and openness, adding flexibility. The space features low-saturation tones and greys, accented by metal to convey stability. A bronze-colored metal image wall highlights the brand's values, while green walls add warmth and vitality. Thoughtful use of color and sliding doors define areas with clarity, showcasing a refined design approach that simplifies complexity.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge stems from the 'lightning-shaped' layout, which includes two key turns that require strategic planning. These turning points naturally draw attention, making them crucial to the spatial experience. The first turn features the brand's image wall, reinforcing its core values and immersing visitors in the company's culture. The second turn transitions from the refreshment area to the office, where sliding glass doors were installed to provide a seamless shift between openness and privacy, enhancing flexibility and multifunctionality in the space.
