| DESIGN NAME: Cascade PRIMARY FUNCTION: One Piece Toilet INSPIRATION: The Cascade toilet draws inspiration from the sculpting force of a waterfall, embodying both strength and grace. Its flowing, chamfered edge, which extends from the bowl to the tank, reflects a continuous journey that mirrors the natural movement of water. This "Flowing Line" design creates a strong visual identity, moving away from the softened forms typical in the market to establish a bold yet refined presence in the bathroom. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Cascade toilet is the latest addition to Corona premium product line, designed specifically for Latin American families. Combining user friendliness, aesthetic appeal, and high performance, the Cascade toilet offers a seamless balance of form and function. It joins our Cascade product line, which includes faucets, sinks, furniture, etc. Allowing our customers to have a complete, harmonious and cohesive design aesthetic within their bathrooms. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cascade prioritizes user-friendliness in every aspect. From its intuitive installation process to the innovative seat design, every element enhances the user experience. The seat features cleverly designed tabs on the outer edges, which keep hands away from less sanitary areas, ensuring better hygiene and comfort. Additionally, the concealed trap-way installation is simplified, avoiding the typical unsightly holes and plastic caps seen in other models, making setup smooth and efficient. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2019 in Medellin, Colombia and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, development ended in 2023. It was released in Colombia in 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cascade was designed and is manufactured in Colombia. Cascade is crafted with Corona’s commitment to sustainability and innovative manufacturing. Approximately 12-17% of the toilet's materials are sourced from recirculated breakage during the production process, contributing to resource efficiency. In addition, 78% of the water used in production is recirculated. Moreover, it is backed by Corona’s lifetime warranty, reinforcing its durability and long-term serviceability. This approach aimed to balance user preferences in aesthetics and usability while differentiating our product from existing offerings. Key findings revealed that users prefer minimal contact with toilets for hygiene reasons, struggle with installing toilets featuring hidden trapways, and feel the market is dominated by generic and imported designs. CHALLENGE: Cascade aimed to revitalize our high-end product lineup by offering a solution with greater value. We faced the challenge of creating a design that stood out from generic market offerings while maintaining broad appeal; a design that also needed to fit seamlessly with the rest of the Cascade product line. Moreover, we had to reinvent our manufacturing techniques for this concealed trapway toilet, as we wanted to incorporate a separate plastic trapway to simplify installation.
