| DESIGN NAME: Cubee PRIMARY FUNCTION: Modular Inflatable Furniture INSPIRATION: Cubee's inspiration comes from the increasing tightness of living space and people's demand for multifunctional and flexible furniture. Cubee solves the pain point of inconvenient handling, installation and storage of furniture in small apartments and shared spaces. At the same time, it gives users a more environmentally friendly and convenient living experience. The inflatable design frees furniture from tedious installation and transportation, and can quickly change its use. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Cubee is a modular inflatable furniture system that overcomes the form and function limitations of traditional furniture, offering flexible, convenient, and eco-friendly solutions. Each module can be freely assembled with suction cups. The inner liner is made from recycled plastic, and the removable cloth cover comes in various colors and materials. The inflatable design enables quick setup and disassembly, while flat packaging reduces transportation and storage costs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cubee is easy to use. With a simple air pump, users can quickly set up the seat. Each module can be used alone or connected with suction cups to create various furniture configurations. The cloth covers are easily replaced with zippers to suit different occasions. When not in use, the modules can be deflated and stored flat for easy transport or storage. Users become both furniture users and designers, as Cubee transforms from a seating system into an interactive, flexible part of daily home life, adding fun and versatility. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cubee's production process focuses on sustainability, using transparent recycled plastic for the inflatable liner to minimize environmental impact. The durable, easy-to-clean cloth cover comes in various colors and materials. High-performance rubber suction cups ensure a secure connection between modules. The liner features rapid inflation technology, fully inflating in 10 seconds, making setup quick and simple. The removable cover, attached with a zipper, allows for easy cleaning or replacement. The design team analyzed the market's pain points, particularly the lack of flexibility, sustainability, and portability in traditional furniture. By exploring inflatable technology and modular design, Cubee achieves diverse functionality while prioritizing convenience and environmental impact. The choice of materials and technology ensures both durability and comfort, all while reducing environmental strain. CHALLENGE: One of the main challenges in designing Cubee was ensuring structural stability while maintaining portability and ease of use. Inflatable products need to be durable and airtight over time, especially with frequent use and movement, making air leakage and deformation key concerns. The suction cups underwent extensive testing to guarantee a secure connection and a comfortable user experience. Precise adjustments to the material and shape of the suction cups were needed to balance firmness and flexibility. The hole design in the liner presented additional technical challenges, requiring both structural integrity and functional versatility. Lastly, balancing eco-friendly materials with cost control was crucial, as the design team aimed to keep production costs reasonable without compromising quality or sustainability.
