PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Multi Patterns Wood Flooring

INSPIRATION:
A new face of the wooden patterns which inspired by the heritage and culture the one of the oldest and known civilizations in the world called Sialk situated in Iran; Where that be famous for having several thousand-year-old pottery with geometrics, plants and animals motifs, which are signs of great human civilization.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A distinctive aspect of this design is that one shape create four patterns which not only does each pattern present its own specific design, but also it is optimized for manufacturing process due to support the different designs by one production pattern. This design is in an effort to preserve the environment without using harmful substances and urea formaldehyde in production.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
With four separated patterns, anyone is able to have a choice for designing their life spaces and floors. The two pieces can be matched together with the main form and create the new pattern or Each of them can be chosen alone. One of the pieces have also in two creative patterns. In addition to these four distinct patterns, each patterns can be installed in different angles which create different final composition in interior design.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Design process started in September 2023 and the first prototype was produced in November 2023. Research and development was done in the first six months of year 2024 and it was decided to be launched at the same time of the design award result announcement.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Engineered wood flooring is the newest technology in manufacture of wood floors which controls and balances the quality, behavior and sustainable of woods and suitable for underfloor heating system. In order to implementation of curves, angles and radius, wood CNC machines are used and instead of Urea formaldehyde which is harmful for environment, D4 glue is used.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Featured and remarkable point is that the main form are placed in the standard dimension of plywood sheets with considering wasted spaces on the sheets. It means that there are three shapes place on the plywood sheet. The main form and the two shapes created by separating that in two pieces and these three shapes are layout together considering of the sheets dimensions and regarding no use spaces. For the next patterns, two shapes created of the main form are produced in separate plywood sheets which each sheet has been be layout considering to less wasted wood. In deed the dimensions of each shape has been considered both paying attention the final composition in interior design and manufacturing process. For installation patterns, production process is done just with coordination between these pre-designed and pre-be layout sheets. This design offering four different modular patterns instead of one module and model of parquet is economic both in manufacturing and packaging.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Relying on several years experience, achieving technical knowledge by having the factory of wood products and wood flooring and doing the design projects, paying attention to the weak points of producing and installation, focusing on weakness and strength of the parquets after installation in projects, field research and interview with clients and customers about their expectation of design and spaces of real life; was created a highly distinctive, dynamic, modular and aesthetically pleasing building product and material for interior spaces.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge of design and manufacturing process was about the dimensions of the shapes, both separately in their plywood sheets and together for installation regarding not to waste the wood. At first, the form was designed in one piece and shape for just having a new pattern. After facing with the problems of producing and woods and considering the dimensions of plywoods sheets, the idea of deviding the form in two pieces was appeared. This idea solved the problem of not used spaces of the sheets, created four new forms, caused designing the new packaging for three pieces which can uses for all patterns.

Unfortunately in Iran, there is not copyrights laws and because of this issue, was decided this product not to be launched until the result will be announced so that after the result everyone knows about this design and the designer in order to avoiding the copy.
