RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The packaging design for "The Serum" reflects a comprehensive design research process dedicated to enhancing user experience. We conducted qualitative research to understand consumer perceptions and needs regarding skincare products. The aim was to create a packaging solution that is both visually appealing and functional.
We employed user interviews, competitive analysis, and focus groups to gather diverse perspectives. Techniques included surveys, prototyping, and usability testing; tools like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator were utilized for design mock-ups. Our target participants included skincare enthusiasts and industry professionals. The research revealed preferences for sustainable materials and elegant aesthetics. We discovered that packaging significantly influences purchasing decisions, prompting a design that merges luxury with eco-friendliness.
This approach not only elevates The Serum's market position but also promotes sustainable practices in the beauty industry, showcasing the vital link between thoughtful design and positive societal impact.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design activity was balancing aesthetics with functionality and sustainability. While we aimed to create an elegant and visually striking package for "The Serum," we also faced challenges in selecting eco-friendly materials that could protect the serum effectively. Additionally, ensuring that the design resonated with target users while meeting their practical needs required extensive iterations and feedback. Striking this balance between beauty, usability, and environmental responsibility was a complex process that demanded careful consideration and creative problem-solving.
