DESIGN NAME: U Magic
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Medical Cosmetic Institution
INSPIRATION: The design of U+Magic Medical Cosmetic Institution in Jiaojiang is inspired by Aristotle's First Principle. This principle emphasizes the importance of breaking down complex problems into basic elements and then reassembling them from the ground up to find the best solution.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design process begins by focusing on creating the right atmosphere and spatial sequences. It blurs the boundaries between the interior and exterior, allowing the space and environment to seamlessly harmonize. By reconfiguring spatial volumes, the design establishes a new spatial order that immerses individuals in an atmosphere where they can enjoy the beautiful space without distractions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The varying form and function create a visually striking focal point that captures attention and elevates the overall spatial feel. Each renovated area stands on its own while staying connected, catching light and encouraging creative exploration.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2024 and completed in June 2024 in China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design follows a balanced spatial construction principle to reconstruct contemporary beauty and commercial spaces using a combination of lines and curves. The transition of different blocks within the space reorganizes the structure, creating overlapping and undulating forms that evoke a sense of mystery and romance. These immersive spatial transitions unfold a captivating narrative, enhanced by the interplay of light and shadow.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Based on the existing building structure, the design connects two floors by incorporating a spiral staircase that adapts to the building’s original structural constraints. This artistic staircase not only enhances spatial flow but also introduces a distinctive minimalist, avant-garde style and a fresh sensory experience.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In this space, time becomes a significant yet flexible concept. The design embraces the present moment, using creative temporal dislocation to create moments where people and spaces meet and stand apart. This design approach adds a lively, rhythmic quality to the environment, weaving a captivating story that ignites the imagination.
CHALLENGE: Creativity drives this design, turning the design process into a structured play of endless possibilities. To soften the overall ambiance, the lighting design opts for a warm 3500K color temperature, avoiding the starkness of overly white or cold lighting. The subtle interplay of light and shadow along the spatial lines creates a deep, layered effect, enriching the visitor's experience and enhancing the depth of the space.
