RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project aims to create a pure and unique residential atmosphere, utilizing relatively simple building materials predominantly sourced locally. This includes ivory-white paint for walls and ceilings, eco-friendly clay made from sediment in Taiwan's reservoirs, and shattered serpentinite from Hualien. Large tiles are not considered due to usage waste. Most furniture designs incorporate considerations for future disassembly and reassembly, utilizing easy-to-maintain and durable materials such as metal and glass to prolong furniture lifespan.
CHALLENGE: Through the fusion and clash of architectural vocabularies, we artfully create a contradictory yet cohesive ambiance in this residence. We boldly challenge the notion of serene minimalism, exploring its nuanced response to the essential need for emotional stability and its intricate relationship with self-actualization and personal fulfillment.
