DESIGN NAME: Connecting Sculpture
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lingerie Store
INSPIRATION: JIALI, established in 1992, has thrived for 32 years. With the launch of its new brand 'Classy,' it also seeks a refreshed image. The design team removed partitions, extending the space into the new display area. Retro elements like bricks and neon lights were reinterpreted with modern techniques, blending nostalgia with innovation. This transformation connects two generations, seamlessly integrating tradition with contemporary fashion. The revitalized space not only honors JIALI's legacy but also marks an exciting new chapter for the brand.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The left and right brand display areas use gray tones to create a calm ambiance, reflecting the brand's industrial wholesale origins. The central counter connects both brands, with brick walls paying homage to the old factory style. Glass and mirrors symbolize modernization, while glass-covered bricks near the new area highlight heritage and innovation. The original display uses galvanized steel and neon lights for a nostalgic feel, while the new area features sculptural curves symbolizing the modern feminine form. Metal elements echo the original steel, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Initially, the owner had few opinions on space planning, but after completion, he was amazed by the aesthetic presentation and deeper meaning. He felt the designers had successfully given the brand a fresh look. By cleverly integrating the brand's history into the space, the design became an excellent focal point for customer engagement and online marketing. The setup allows new customers to understand the brand's story while enabling existing customers to connect with its renewed image. The renovation blends old and new, reshaping people's perception of the brand.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in July 2023 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials: iron parts, transparent glass, galvanized angle steel, corrugated board, metal plate, stone paint, neon lights, acrylic, Spanish bricks, etc. The acrylic used extensively in the original brand area reduces the strong visual impact caused by saturated colors with a sense of transparency, but maintains the divisions brought by large-area color blocks, becoming the visual dividing line between display areas. The Spanish brick hollow design of the counter and the mirror correspond to nostalgia and the new generation, symbolizing the progress and integration of the dual brands.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This project renovates a 25-32-year-old store, covering approximately 148.7 square meters. The space serves as a display area for both new and original brands. Previously, partitions divided them into separate areas. To strengthen their connection, the designers removed the partitions, making the new brand feel like a natural extension of the original. This approach enhances customer trust while distinguishing the store with a unique layout. The central counter unites both brands under one company, improving recognition and facilitating corporate management.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In JIALI's display area, angle steel frames serve as display cabinets, while neon lights highlight the brand's localization. Movable display cabinets are inspired by stacked cardboard boxes from the store's earlier days, echoing the company's industrial origins. In the Classy brand area, the designers embraced contrast and innovation. Metal plates symbolize the company's early growth years, while curved elements reflect modern women's body ideals. From visual aesthetics to deeper meaning, the design seamlessly connects to the brand's heritage and philosophy.
CHALLENGE: Each shelf was custom-made without a ready-made template, requiring the design team to tackle the challenge of integrating neon lights with angle steel. They had to open molds and collaborate with an acrylic factory to produce parts. To maintain aesthetics, laser cutting technology was used to avoid visible hardware like suspenders and screws. In the new brand area, curved glass and middle display shelves were also customized, adding complexity. Balancing functionality, durability, and execution posed challenges. The team dedicated significant time and effort while also considering store business hours, making the project even more demanding.
