PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Sash Window

INSPIRATION:
The ever-changing intelligent technology and material choices heralds an ample room for improvement in structure and intelligence level. L10 is an innovative product inspired by the pain points of traditional windows and doors, with a view to providing users with more desired ventilation, lighting or other features.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
L10 is a full-view slide window and what differentiates it from traditional slide window is dimmable glass, nano-coating and self-cleaning coating technologies. And it is also equipped with a smart home control system that permits user to open and close window, change the transparency level and set automation scenarios by mobile APP or remote controller. It also supports free locating of sashes to enhance the home experience.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
L10 dimmable glass is inlaid with a wireless power module, a customized APP and integrated controller. With Bluetooth connection or access to a wireless network, user can remotely control it on the controller or APP. In this way, user can easily adjust the level of how much light is transmitted, open and close window, freely set the window opening level and automatic scenarios. L10 also supports a connection with the smart home network and interacts with other smart home devices.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The R&D stage of L10 project kicked off in March 2022 in Foshan, China and released to market in May 2023 in Foshan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
L10 features a multi-point locking mechanism and its surface is attached with transparent conductive film, PDLC material and protective layer, and the glass transparency level can be changed by electronic control technology. Additional oxide nano-coating and photocatalytic self-cleaning coating confer excellent heat insulation and UV protection, decompose pollutants and degrade organic matter, and keep the window surface clean and bright.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The home system is driven to the pathway of intelligence and interconnectivity. Doors and windows, a critical component of the home system, are considered to be functional and influential. The industry is making a transition to intelligence. In future, intelligent doors and windows will be available with ease of use, intelligent control and interconnection, making up an intelligent home ecosystem.

CHALLENGE:
It is indeed difficult to enable free locating of doors and windows, as windows are expected to stay where it is desired and remain stable. However, a window may be displaced or unstable due to its own weight and environmental interferences (e.g.: wind). As a possible solution, the window frame must be sturdy and stable enough and the locking mechanism should be properly designed and crafted from appropriate materials, to the extent that the window locks securely and endures external forces.
