| DESIGN NAME: Pawsome Pace Control Kit PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pet Bowl INSPIRATION: Most pet bowls now available on the market just provide a simple container, instead of considering the potential health risks from eating too fast. This really matters for those pets in rehabilitation or exposed to potential health risks. This pet food bowl set is tailored to slow down eating speed as reasonable, and address some defects of most available pet bowls including the vulnerability to wobbling. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Pet Food Bowl Set comprises a figure “8” shape silicone bowl, a feed divider, and a slow feeding mat for liquid food. It can be used in flexible combinations or with other products. It is intended to help pets control their eating speed, improve wellness and eating habits. The fan shape and softness of the divider is suitable for most of the food bowl sizes now available on the market with impressive applicability and compatibility. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Each component can be used alone or with other products. The figure “8” shape silicone bowl contains two separate bowls, one for pet feed and one for water or liquid food. The feed divider and slow feeding mat can be placed in both bowls to divide and slow down feeding. The slow feeding mat comes with a round handle for easy access. Each component has a vacuum suction mechanism on the bottom portion to securely hold them in place and prevent wobbling and shifting. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project kicked off in October 2023 in Shenzhen and wrapped up in December 2023 in Shenzhen. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All components are made of food-grade standard non-hazard silicone material. The process to manufacture: prepare some copper male electrodes, work pieces on molds, discharge on EDM machine from different angles to produce different surface ring texture effects. As the product is larger than ordinary silicone products, we need to precisely control the weight of material and test the size of different parts for even-out flow. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 280mmx220mmx55mm TAGS: Pet, Slow Feeding, Silicone, Fan Shape Design, Firmness RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Cats and dogs have limited color vision compared to human beings. With less cone cells in retina, dogs have no special ability to perceive red and green, but cats have more cone cells than dogs, so they can identify certain colors such as blue, yellow, and green (except red). The pet set is designed with blue and yellow colors which can are perceivable to cats and dogs, so pets are given highly adaptable and recognizable visual experience. CHALLENGE: The silicone material addresses the problems associated with the currently popular pet bowls, e.g.: overturning and noise. As there is no pet bowls made of 100% silicone on the market, the designer is forced to refer to the bowls made of other materials, in order to simulate scenarios and solve problems. For example, good floor suction should be maintained when pets are licking or colliding with it. For material properties, the designer also considers how to make a firm form without sinking.
