| DESIGN NAME: Jo Chu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sake Bottle INSPIRATION: We created a new form of sake by distilling it without heat, allowing the flavor of the sake to remain intact. To represent the depth and tranquility of Japanese culture, "shīde" (paper streamers) are used to help connote a sacred area. To express the beauty of the sake, we traced the shape of a water-filled balloon created by surface tension and to express the moment when purified water droplets fall. We created a design identity that communicates the new possibilities of sake to the world. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sake has been connected to the faith of Japanese people since ancient times and is treated as an entity connecting people and the Gods. It is an essential and crucial aspect when discussing the culture of our country. Therefore, we incorporated the "shīde" (paper streamers), a motif representing the essence of Shinto prayers, onto the bottle shape that recreates the natural form produced by the surface tension of the liquid, capturing the moment when a drop of purified alcohol falls. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 11cm x 11cm x 25.5cm/Outer dimensions of box TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: We aimed to design a bottle with a clear concept, reflecting the shape of water, so there were very few difficulties in the design process. However, because the bottle is organic and asymmetrical, there were various challenges for the manufacturing company. Committed to preserving and passing down the diverse and rich culture of Japanese sake, which has flourished in over 1200 breweries across Japan, Naorai focuses on the harmonious coexistence of human activities with nature, flora, fauna, and microorganisms. This inspiration stems from their learning at the Lemon Garden on Sankaku Island. Naorai strives to redefine the regional strengths of various areas through sake, adopting a perspective that focuses on their virtues. Their dedication to creating sake is meticulous, emphasizing quality ingredients, traditional brewing methods, and flavor, with the goal of producing beverages that enhance both physical and mental well-being. The brand values transcending time and space, endeavoring to honor and continue traditions.
