| DESIGN NAME: Mamma Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Leisure Chair INSPIRATION: The sofa chair is reminiscent of an amiable Italian grandmother, evoking the warm memories of being cradled in her arms during childhood. Its U shaped construction and down feather seat pack provide a safe and cosy sense of wrapping. As an inheritance of Italian handcraft, every stitch the grandmother makes carries a sense of the profound story, imbuing the product with a pursuit of high quality and the artisan spirit. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This sofa chair was designed with the theme of Healing and Pleasing Yourself. The simple and smooth U shape not only echoes the brand logo but also adapts to diverse home decor manners. Complemented with blankets of various patterns, the product offers many customization possibilities. The embracing design suits the body shape, and the down seat pack can naturally compress and envelope the sitter. With soft and stable support, the product provides a comfortable sitting and reclining experience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The product with U shaped structure conforms to the body and has a back belt mechanism for soft and stable support. The original seat height is about 500mm. Upon seating, the down seat pack naturally compresses and envelops the user, ultimately reaching about 430mm, optimized for Asian body contours. With a seat depth of 650mm, the product is cosy for both sitting and reclining. The blanket included can be conveniently folded inward or removed to enhance the sense of warmth and wrapped. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was launched in June 2023 in Guangzhou and Paris. It was completed in February 2024 in Guangzhou and Paris, and exhibited in March 2024 in Guangzhou. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bending plates are solid wood veneered and carpentry painted. The stitching main part fabric boasts a loop yarn formation, giving it good breathability and hygroscopicity. Incorporating wool yarns in the cloth enhances its wear resistance, antistatic properties and durability. Additionally, the fabric surface undergoes peached treatment to create a layer of short down, further augmenting its water repellency. The blanket employs multicoloured woven jacquard cloths with a unique pattern. They now seek more than just functionality and demand cosiness and emotional resonance from their furniture. This sofa chair has been designed with the concept of Healing and Pleasing Yourself, combined with an emphasis on high quality, artisan spirit and personalised customisation, further satisfying the customer demands for a quality life and emotional experience. CHALLENGE: The objective was to devise a technical solution that integrates aesthetics, cosiness, and customization. The design team opted for a simple U shaped frame and a down seat pack to enhance the visual hierarchy. The embracing structure, seat height and depth were tailored to the Asian contour of body, resulting in a dual nice experience of sitting and reclining. The main shell fabric has multiple materials and colours, and the blanket features diverse textures and hues for diverse preferences.
