DESIGN NAME: Zephyr 15
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vacuum Cleaner
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for creating the Zephyr 15 vacuum cleaner stemmed from the constant struggle to store bulky equipment in a small apartment and the desire to create something exceptional with a superior design. Focusing on functionality and aesthetics, I developed a device that combines compact size with efficient cleaning performance, enabling easy storage and high efficacy. Zephyr 15 is the answer to the need for a stylish yet practical vacuum cleaner in a modern home.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Zephyr 15 is an ideal solution for small apartments and aesthetic interiors, combining the benefits of a brushless motor with modern accumulators. Its unique functionality allows the device to transform from a compact handheld vacuum to a full-scale upright cleaner. The base station serves a dual purpose: it charges the Zephyr 15 and discreetly stores three attachments - a standard one for floors, an electric brush for couches and similar surfaces, and a narrow tip.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Zephyr 15 is an easy-to-use vacuum cleaner that transforms from a compact handheld device into a full-size upright vacuum. To fold or unfold it, simply press the appropriate buttons and release the locking mechanism. Once unfolded, the length of the device can be adjusted by up to 500 mm to suit various needs. The charging station also serves as a storage for attachments. With its innovative design and high efficiency, the Zephyr 15 ensures effective cleaning with minimal effort, perfect for modern homes.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Zephyr 15 project spanned 3 months, from initial concept to final prototype testing. The process included design, production, and testing phases. The project was realized in Katowice, Poland.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Zephyr 15 prototype was produced using 3D printing technologies SLA and FDM, enabling precise fabrication of individual components. Post-printing, these parts were further processed, including hand painting, to ensure an aesthetic finish. Mechanical components were crafted using CNC machines, and some elements were manually made, allowing for the required quality and fit.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Zephyr 15 vacuum cleaner features compact dimensions when folded, measuring 407 x 122 x 221 mm. Unfolded, the device extends to 1100 x 122 x 228 mm, providing full upright vacuum functionality. The charging station is sized at 505 x 160 x 163 mm, allowing for convenient placement in home settings.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 3D design and strength analyses considering the vacuum cleaner's unfolding mechanism, electronics construction, prototype build.
CHALLENGE: The primary challenge in designing the Zephyr 15 was developing a folding and unfolding mechanism that ensured durability when extended and reliability in operation. Ensuring the continuity of action and repeatability of the mechanism, while integrating control and power cables into the handle. Another challenge was fitting the power system and vacuum turbine within the compact casing, demanding precise design of each component to maintain optimal efficiency without increasing the device's size.
