| DESIGN NAME: Rhythmic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book Design INSPIRATION: Traumatic memories are usually encoded visually. Artistic creation can be used to understand traumatic experiences better, motivate creativity and unlimited imagination of self-expression, and thus establish a refuge for strong emotions. Inspired by personal experiences and influenced by DIY thinking, empowerment and the uncontrolled, homemade style of the punk spirit, the author uses self-concept reshaping as a creative archetype combined with visual art to express value cognition. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For centuries, art and music have been helping people explore conflicts and themes that influence their actions, thoughts, and emotions. This project studies the positive impact of punk culture on social mental health. Based on the DIY, rebellion, and self in the punk spirit, it forms a coherent and interactive musical narrative style through solid visual language. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Using Adobe Indesign as the tool to edit and Design the book before print it. The paper was tested during the printing process and Bright silver card was used as a special material to highlight the center page to reach the climax. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2022 and finished in November 2023, in New York. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It is circulated in the market in two ways - a sustainable ebook and a hardcover with collectible value. The hardcover uses rich butterfly-fold binding and high-quality printing materials to achieve the best authentic touch. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size 210mm x 140mm Full book 92P Hardcover-laminating TAGS: Print, Communication, Punk Art, Art Therapy, Graphic Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Red symbolizes the definite emotional power of punk-catharsis, release, breaking the mold, and matching with black and white, the iconic colors of punk art, to brighten and enliven the picture. Embed fonts and graphics into a stable grid layout system to obtain a sense of balance and show significant punk music characteristics such as short formats, fast tempos, simple melodies and harmonies through different arrangements of fixed elements. The essence lies in the narrative expressiveness of music. Each page presents a variety of rhythmical sense to enrich the viewer's sensory experience. CHALLENGE: Punk aesthetics is a revolution in the history of graphic design that ripped up the rules of neutral sans serif typography and the prevalence of Swiss minimalism. Integrating punk's unconventional and transformative spirit into art therapy can lead to a better understanding of the effects of art therapy and strike a balance while distinguishing it from traditional punk art and art therapy works. Through innovative forms of expression, it breaks the limitations of the definition, such as art created outside the boundaries of its official culture.
