| DESIGN NAME: Zero PRIMARY FUNCTION: Circular Light INSPIRATION: Glass is 100 percent recyclable, just like nature and the endless cycle of life. When the glass sand melts at high temperatures, it becomes as soft as water, revealing the subtle relationship between water, transparency and time. Hope to present all values through the light, and bring the resonance of heart and glass into the products. When light and shadow get into the mind, it brings out the romantic meaning of glass regeneration. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The variety of this product carries the light and time, water and the transparency of plasticity which makes it can see and touch the time. The pointer will splash the water and cause small ripples per second, like every recurring event which is being triggered. In a whole circle of time, it finds the uniqueness and beautifulness in daily lives from every perspective of water. It uses 100 percent recyclable glass from daily lives, as a saying goes it ends to zero and be born to zero. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Stack and assemble from bottom to top. 2. Insert the battery and plug it. 3. Insert the pointer. 4. Pour water into the glass dish and cover it with the glass lid. 5. Feel the changes of light and shadow in a relaxing way. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2022 and finished in May 2023. Exhibited at YODEX Industry-Academia Cooperation in May 2023. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This product is cooperated with Spring Pool Glass. It is made of recycled glass and combined with soft light which touches the users’ heart. Expect to place this product at Spring Pool Glass's cooperative store, such as SIDOLI RADIO and Akau Coffee which have experiential activities regularly. It can attract the target customers who focus on spiritual enjoyment and make the house more comfortable. It not only creates the commercial value but also promotes the sustainability. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 235mm x Depth 235mm x Height 164mm TAGS: circular, light, relax, glass, water, time RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The process of recycling glass is quite complex. We try to find materials which similar with glass's characteristics, showing its value of glass in circulation, and bring it into our daily lives. Compared with transparent materials, acrylic shows the advantages of easy processing, but it cannot be recycled like glass. In addition, we find that light, water and time are all changeable media in the relationship between transparency and glass. They exist in various forms in nature. It is hoped that this product will be presented in a way that can produce light and shadow changes, such as ripples spreading and water droplets falling, etc. Finally, we removed the scale and tick tock to prevent people feeling stressed. CHALLENGE: Solving the limitations of shape and modularity in the glass product, finding out the meaning and expression of circular glass, and experiment the different effect between water and light.
