DESIGN NAME: Exalt 24
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sailing Yacht
INSPIRATION: The inspiration comes from larger sailing superyachts of more than 40m. This kind of yachts have two decks: one flybridge deck and one maindeck. This combination allows for more liveable and luminous space onboard. Unfortunately, this combination is not found onboard smaller yachts which have usually no flybridge. So it was decided to search for a solution offering these advantages on a 24m by mixing new technical solutions and a new space arrangement.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The distinctive feature is the combination of a upper cockpit with a lounge on the sea located on maindeck. This arrangement allows to split the navigation area from the social lounge. From the navigation cockpit, the yacht is steered with a 360 degrees view and all the sails are adjusted. From the convivial cockpit, passengers can enjoy life at sea with a panoramic view on the surroundings at sea level whilst not disturbed by the manoeuvring of the yacht.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: From the flybridge cockpit on top, to the lounge at sea level, a functional arrangement was then developed to ensure at the same time conviviality for guests and privacy from crew. Crew have direct access to the navigation cockpit, chart table, galley, tender garage and crew quarters. Guests benefit up to 4 cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom. Onboard, there is a large garage fitting a large electric tender, allowing guest to explore the coast and to attain the beach.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project developed in 2023, France.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The yacht is mainly built in composite with renewable materials integrated in non-structural parts, such as alternative decking solutions and sustainable finishes. A female mould is used to limit the price of the building process. Hull form and propulsion options were compared for optimization. A twin motor system installation have been choosen while it is not commonly used on monohull but rather on multihull.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Type: sailing monohull, Length overall : 23.99m, Beam max: 6.4m, Sail Area : 370m2, Displacement: 48 tons, Draft: 2.7m/4.0m

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our investigation drives to develop in parallel a sleek aesthetic profile, with both the internal space organization and the engine room fit out.
The research on the engineering of the engine room conducts to a new solution onboard a monohull sailing yacht lowering the overall yacht profile. What allowed to add a flybridge whilst still offering a 2.05m ceiling height inside.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was integrating the double-deck configuration onboard a 24m sailing yacht. Our research results in a longitudinal engine room instead of a vertical one, thanks to the compact size of the electric engines and the dual propulsion lines.
The benefits of the twin electric motor system are doubling the hydrogeneration, improving manoeuvrability, and offering redundancy for safety and peace of mind. Thermic engines are too voluminous to envisage this.
