DESIGN NAME: Alife Assist
PRIMARY FUNCTION: AI Clinical Software For IVF Clinics
INSPIRATION: 1 in 6 individuals now struggle to conceive. As infertility continues to emerge as a rapidly growing health crisis, effective and equitable fertility care is becoming paramount. The most common form of care, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), is often expensive (>$60,000), ineffective (<50% success rate), and inaccessible. Alife has built a modern operating system for IVF that helps fertility specialists make data-driven decisions and maximizes each patient's chance of success.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The AI software platform provides data-driven insights to clinicians in order to improve IVF patient success rates. It includes three products, which all create a compounding improvement in outcomes:
(1)Stim Assist™ provides AI insights on IVF medication to help produce more eggs and reduce medication costs.
(2)Embryo Assist™ digitizes the embryology lab workflow to improve quality control and save time.
(3)Insights™ analyzes clinic data, enabling stakeholders to make faster, more informed decisions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: (1)Stim Assist™: Algorithm uses 40,000 patient cycles to predict best treatment protocol. This enables clinicians to personalize treatment, saving up to $1000 in medication costs and increasing patient egg yield by up to 2.7 eggs.
(2)Embryo Assist™: Streamlines embryology lab workflow and creates an audit trail, reducing errors and enhancing efficiency.
(3)Insights™: Real-time analytics dashboard for quality monitoring in clinics.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Software design started December 2020 in the USA and went to market in October 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to work with fertility specialists daily workflow seamless, attention is paid to the interaction, content, error-preventing mechanism and accessibility to ensure the overall experience fits their working environment, regulations, and work pace. In terms of accuracy, the data are from 11 of the largest clinic groups in the US representing ~35% of the market and over 22 different sites in 12 different states. To our knowledge, this represents the largest IVF dataset in record.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product is responsive to computers and tablets. It is available as a web-based platform as well as a desktop app.
Cloud-based software with unlimited data storage allows access from anywhere with single sign-on. Data is safe and secure with SOC2 and HIPAA compliance.
It has real-time electronic medical record (EMR) system connection and the ability to integrate with any EMR.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Design: Field study, literature review, and user testings were conducted to understand workflow and validate the designs.
Technology: Published multiple clinical studies in peer-reviewed journals. Findings showed that clinicians who follow the recommendations could improve success outcomes by: up to 2.7 additional eggs per patient and $1000+ in medications per cycle, as well as significantly reduce medication while achieving the same result.
CHALLENGE: Successful pregnancies from IVF rely on a complex set of clinical decisions made by physicians to deliver the optimal care for each patient. While there’s a tremendous amount of data available that clinics could use to make those decisions, it can be incredibly challenging to extract actionable insights. Alife’s platform distills these large quantities of data into easy-to-use tools that help fertility specialists make more informed decisions and maximize each patient's chance of success.
