| DESIGN NAME: Royan PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sofa INSPIRATION: The Royan sofa is inspired by the letters of the Nasta'liq calligraphy. Nasta'liq is one of the beautiful calligraphic styles that is used in Iran and many Islamic countries. The unique curves and forms of this style have made it visually pleasing and beautiful. The soft shapes and special design of this furniture are a symbol of the beauty of Nasta'liq calligraphy. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This sofa is designed for first-class rooms, waiting rooms, libraries, luxurious hotel lobbies, as well as special and luxury spaces. The unique form of this sofa is the most important feature of its design. Additionally, this sofa is double-sided and can be used for sitting on both sides or around it. It also has space for placing books and flowers, providing a unique experience for the user. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This sofa has a space for placing books so that the user can use them and be entertained while sitting on it and waiting. The sofa is also equipped with wireless chargers so that users can use it, for example, to charge their mobile phones. The special shape of the armrest allows users to lean in different ways in different parts, and the two-sided nature of the sofa creates a sense of intimacy for users. The presence of space as a planter or for placing plants can give the user a sense of calm and happiness. The edges of the bases are covered with metal to provide better durability and protect the bases, and its shape is rounded for better stability in different spaces. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Considering the organic form of the body, the wooden frame must be constructed as a skeletal and structural form, and the legs must be attached to it separately. This part is processed by a lightweight 3D curved surface CNC machining. The table can be colored with OSMO wax oil. In the upper part and the backrest, after making the primary structure, one or two layers of polyurethane foam sponge are fixed on the body, and then a layer of leather or fabric is easily sewn on it. Finally, bookshelves and plant pots are easily placed in their place so that these parts can also have a significant impact on the strength of the leather or fabric layer. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 400 cm x Depth 150 cm x Height 100 cm TAGS: furniture, sofa, Lobby, hotel, Royan RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Initially, the goal was to design furniture that is different and optimized for special spaces. Later, it was decided to present this unique form based on inspiration from the beautiful Nasta'liq calligraphy to enhance its beauty. Finally, after various ideations and designs, the main form was presented in a way that not only easily conveys the beauty of Nasta'liq calligraphy but also showcases a unique and beautiful form while being practical. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this design was creating a unique and different shape that, while maintaining its beauty and uniqueness, could provide a different experience for the user. Also, choosing the type of material was one of the challenging parts which ultimately resulted in the best choice of leather material combined with wood to create a luxurious and special sofa.
