| DESIGN NAME: Poju PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pet Urn INSPIRATION: The Poju Pet urn is inspired by the profound bond between pets and their owners. This piece seamlessly blends form and function to deliver a truly unique and caring experience to the user during a difficult period. From the star rod to the meaningful elements, this pet urn is the perfect embodiment of understated elegance and heartfelt remembrance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Poju Pet Urn has been designed with careful consideration for the user's emotional comfort. Its defining feature is the arched-shaped door plate, which provides customization services and allows users to engrave their pet's name. This new element of interaction adds versatility to the pet urn and sets it apart from other "teapot" options. Mountain shapes with small colored accents, along with stopper details at the bottom, beautifully complete the functionality of this design. Additionally, this solution is suitable for any indoor area. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Poju Pet Urn is designed to offer a simple and user-friendly experience. The stopper lid at the bottom can be opened using the convenient finger hole for easy removal, initiating the process of transferring their furry friend's ashes. This user-friendly process, envisioned by the designer, ensures a safe and efficient transformation of ashes while maintaining the integrity of the product. Once placed on the table, the design invites the user to embrace and caress the urn as a gesture of closure and comfort. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in October 2022 in Los Angeles and concluded in September 2023, also in Los Angeles. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design incorporates slip-cast durable porcelain and utilizes a metal rod to connect the star seamlessly. Moreover, the paw-shaped house undergoes meticulous hand-painting, infusing a personalized and artistic dimension into the product. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 152mm in Diameter x 152mm in Height Designed to accommodate pets weighing up to 60 lbs prior to cremation. TAGS: Twinkle Land, Pet Urn, Poju, Pet Supply, Small and Medium Size Pets, Product Design, Industrial Design, Pet RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The approach to crafting pet urns involved an integrated research methodology. Through this process, it was discovered that the market primarily offered multipurpose, generic cylindrical tea pot containers used as pet urns. Interviews conducted during the research phase also highlighted a robust demand for customizable urns, as pets are often considered cherished family members. Additionally, there was a growing desire for urns that could effectively address the emotional needs of pet owners while providing a more secure method for storing ashes, especially in multi-pet households. CHALLENGE: To create the Poju pet urn, designers had to balance emotional needs from users and functionality while ensuring integration with the environment. They conducted surveys and interviews to identify user needs, resulting in a customizable nameplate on the paw-shaped house, and a discreet silicone stopper at the base to ensure an airtight seal while concealing any remnants. The pet urn's warm, modern design appeals to a broad range of users, providing closure, comfort, and customizable elements that can enhance well-being at a physiological level.
