INSPIRATION:
Design inspiration is usually derived from the site for most of our projects, through our reading of the client and the brief provided.
We took our cue from the way the client described about the lifestyle they are fascinated and hoping to pursue as a trophy of their career but entrusting us on turning their life stories and visions into physical reality. The team also wanted to design a minimalist modern interior that exudes calmness in an urban area.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Minimalist modern interior design focuses on simplicity and functionality, stripping away unnecessary elements and clutter. The emphasis on functionality in minimalist modern interior design ensures that every piece of furniture and every element serves a purpose. This approach enhances the efficiency and practicality of the space, contributing to a sense of order and tranquility. The minimalist aesthetic promotes mindfulness and encourages people to focus on the present moment.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The furniture selection follows the minimalist approach, focusing on simple yet functional pieces that contribute to the clean and uncluttered ambiance. Streamlined sofas, sleek dining tables, and minimalistic storage solutions are chosen to complement the overall design. The layout is carefully planned to optimize the available space and create a seamless flow between different areas, ensuring both comfort and practicality.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in 30 July 2022 in Penang, Malaysia and finished in 31 May 2023

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The design concept focuses on incorporating dark stained wood, natural marble, titanium-coated stainless steel, and cool tones to achieve a sense of muted luxury. The overall goal is to establish a tranquil and comfortable environment that serves as a peaceful retreat from the fast-paced city life.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The aesthetic to pursue this project was a minimalist mix of modern textures, such as dark stained wood, natural marble, titanium-coated stainless steel, and cool tones. The team wanted to create an ode to muted luxury, using clean and distinct lines to emphasize space and comfort, creating an oasis of calm, a quiet escape from the hustle of bustling city life. Overall, the house is sleek and modern, with natural daylight as the main focus of the design.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
To fulfill the modern contemporary look, the interior furnishing is minimal and sophisticated, where we still remain a few bare walls. However, good furniture is more than an extension of a well-designed space. In fact, they are the main tools in the user’s experience. We actually started our project by choosing the furniture during the drafting stage before moving on to the spatial design. It is fun when we work the other way round once in a while.
CHALLENGE:
Designing a minimalist modern interior that exudes calmness in an urban area requires careful consideration of various challenges. By addressing factors such as noise, air quality, limited space, and privacy, this project creates a serene oasis within the bustling city environment. With a focus on sound-absorbing materials, improved air circulation, space efficiency, integration of natural elements, and visual privacy, the design successfully creates a tranquil and peaceful sanctuary for its occupants.
