| DESIGN NAME: Old&New PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior INSPIRATION: A charismatic personality usually combines several traits that could seemingly belong to entirely different people. It is the same with this interior - in its small area, it combines several different styles without any buffer zones or smooth transitions, coexisting in a shared space and shaping a unique harmony. There is a place for vintage carpets, a green kitchen cupboard, concrete ceilings, and the vibe of a "grandmother� UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The interior of Old&New apartment can not be called simple. We have long and carefully worked out his style to combine modern details with elements of vintage. We selected warm wood and soft textures of carpets and textiles, mixed them with steel tables, recycled plastic and old mirror frames. We worked on color, duplicated shades and textures and everything to make the interior look whole after a long diffusion, despite the many accent details. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Among the aesthetic wishes of the client was a bright green color. It was embodied in the facade of a large kitchen cabinet that hides a built-in refrigerator, storage areas, and a wine fridge. The kitchen table and shelves on the wall are a tribute to the American minimalist Donald Judd. The centerpiece of the minimalist living room is a velvet pale pink sofa with a projector suspended above it. The wall opposite is covered with a special paint that ensures perfect image reproduction. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Despite the small area, the majority of the space was given to the private area in the form of a bedroom, bathroom and wardrobe. We have made this part softer and more cozy: here you can see a lot of wood, elements of rattan weaving and a lot of textiles. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total area: 67 sqm. TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When the client approached the designers, most of her wishes were not about aesthetics but solutions that determine the quality of life. The client maintains a healthy lifestyle and professes hedonism. She devotes a lot of time to sports, travels, and is one of the founders of the activist group Femen. - While discussing references, the client chose the boldest solutions. For this lack of fear, I like to work with creative people, – says Victoria Kareva, chief designer at Between the Walls. CHALLENGE: The project was scheduled to start in February 2022, but its implementation was delayed due to Russia's full-scale invasion to Ukraine. However, only six months later, work on the project was resumed, and it was implemented in 2022. Creating new projects at such a time is a kind of manifesto of faith in the future. No matter how long the war lasts, this is no reason to lower the professional bar. In these conditions, hedonism becomes a superpower, and the desire to live inspires great respect. NAME: Between the Walls PROFILE: Between the Walls is the team of Ukrainian interior and architecture designers who create an emotional spatial experience. Each of their projects is an individual story inscribed between the walls. "We have our own approach to design - we believe that space should continue and reveal its inhabitants, convey its interests, style and even character. Therefore, we do not just arrange the furniture correctly and choose the right color, but create the concept, functionality and mood.
