| DESIGN NAME: Carslan PRIMARY FUNCTION: Essence Cream Packaging INSPIRATION: The design inspiration for Carslan's Frost & Essence series is "Time Flows Like Gold, Frozen Hourglass." Beauty can be transient yet eternal. The surface rectangle, arranged based on a series of combinations, combined with the inherent properties of the metallic material, creates different angles of refraction under natural light. Each side exhibits a unique brilliance, symbolizing the flow of time and capturing beauty. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As a high-end Frost and Essence series by Carslan, the project aims to interpret beauty from a higher dimension. The design incorporates the principles of deconstructivism, reinterpreting skincare product design while integrating architectural design concepts. It allows consumers not only to experience a product but also to perceive beauty in multiple dimensions and forms. Beauty is diverse, multifaceted, and multidimensional, just like the concept conveyed by this packaging design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The products structure and functionality complement each other. The waistline of the outer PVC hourglass is designed to provide convenience and comfort when consumers retrieve the product. Through data analysis, we determined the average diameter that provides the most comfortable grip for both women and men, resulting in the measured value for the waistline of the product. Additionally, we considered the products presentation under different lighting conditions during the day and night. The design of the dual-layer material can provide a multilayered visual experience to a greater extent. Furthermore, we proposed the concept of bottle recycling, where consumers can repurchase the product by utilizing cash discounts, reducing waste of resources and stimulating repurchase. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design of the essence, and cream accurately conveys the concepts and forms of the design to some extent, and future extensions can be more predictable. Considering the large-scale industrial production process, we did not adopt the form of encapsulation in actual production. Instead, we directly produced the inner and outer layers using molds, which were then nested and combined. This approach significantly reduces the difficulty of product implementation and improves the efficiency of the industrial assembly line. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimensions of the cream are 63mm in height, 70mm in width, with the upper layer being 28mm in height and the lower layer being 35mm. The product contains 50ml of content. The outer layer of the product is PVC encapsulation, while the inner layer is a gold-plated layer. The inner gold-plating design, combined with the PVC material of the casing, creates a dual-layer effect. The outer design primarily aims to showcase the additive-free nature of the skincare product and conveys the design concept of "Time Condenses, Frozen Hourglass," which represents the concept of ageless beauty. The vision of the client is to allow future consumers of this product to condense beauty and rejuvenate their skin as much as possible. As a designer, I also want consumers to intuitively perceive the concepts and effectiveness conveyed by the product through its visual presentation. TAGS: Packaging, Structural, cream, essence, time, Tigerpan RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The conveyance of beauty is multifaceted, utilizing deconstructivism to express skincare product design. At the same time, it allows the public to understand that deconstructivism inherits and reconstructs various existing relationships between modernist orthodox principles and standards, resulting in new meanings. The concept of decomposition emphasizes fragmentation, superimposition, recombination, and individual importance. CHALLENGE: "Time Flows Like Gold, Frozen Hourglass." In the moment of applying the essence and cream, it captures the most beautiful instant of contemporary women, locking it in. Although the beautiful past may never return, it leaves behind everlasting memories and life imprints worth cherishing. The main challenge of the project lies in accurately calculating the angles and relationships between the gold-plated rectangles to achieve the perfect effect when the product is finalized. Each side should showcase a continuous flow of light, with the light layers continuously and regularly dispersing.
